Yesterday I started experiencing problems with my computer, and I decided today I would do a little house keeping.. you know clean the files a little.. disk clean up...defrag and such.

Wellllllllllllll it wasn't all that easy.. something was screwing up the comp big time, I couldn't get it to understand what I wanted it to do. Virus scan wasn't working..disk clean up wasn't working.. defrag wasn't working.. NOTHING WORKED! every time I pushed a button I received an error message..

soooooo me being really comp literate.. i REFORMATTED the god damn thing..

Well guess what? It is blank.. empty.. NOTHING was backed up.. because I couldn't do it.. it wouldn't let me.. I barely figured out how to get my net connection reastablished..

so now I have to go in and reinstall everything.. but I lost all my saved emails and everything..

I had backed up a few weeks ago.. some of the more important stuff.. but I never did back up all the emails. Luckily I had printed some of the stuff..

*sighs* so.. basicly.. if you don't see me for a few days it's because I'm fed up.. and I've thrown my hands in the air and said fuck it to the whole damn thing!

/end rant

*BIG hug*

I'm going through the same thing, but, thanks to you, I'm saving my personal correspondance......hate to lose all those pictures of beautiful breasts, ect.

That can be such a pain, I know. I feel your pain completely.

I've lost vast collections of artwork (NOT PORN! :p)... programs, e-mails, letters/journals... tons of stuff in my reformatting past. Such a pain... such a bother.

The only nice thing is that, after a few times, you can go from clean format to 100% up and running in a single night. :(

same thing happened to me a few months ago.. sorry Freaky :( I know what a pain in the ass it is.

It can be a pain. I don't ever back anything up. If I need it, I'll have it on hard copy.

I don't save any of my e's. I'm not that attached to them. REad them once and out they go.

Most of my stuff is on disc fror all of my programs.

I feel for you though.:rose: :rose: :rose:

I'm sorry to hear that freakygurl. I know I hated when I had to reformat and lose all my games and pics I had saved up. I just reformatted this week to install a new OS and a camera (which still won't work!). Good luck in getting everything up and running:)

I live in terror of the same thing happening to me! I love my computer but I'm a little bit scared of it. They can be pretty testy little things.

Oh no, I think mine heard that last comment. Crash expected eminently.......

been there done that...reformated two times so far and it is the most annoying 5 hours I would ever want to spend.....thats not including the time it takes to tweek it and reload all of my games!

I feel your pain:rose:

*update*

Ok, got it reformatted (had to do it again, because for some reason, the first time.. something went wrong)

I've gotten back online (ofcourse I did that before installing my printer.. LIT is far more important than printing ;) )

And I downloaded Yahoo messenger.. and I'm getting ready to re download MSN.. (thank god I was smart enough to remember my passwords)

After all the important stuff is done.. I'll finish installing all the crap (like SO's and kids games)...

thank you to everyone that responded to my bitching..

here is some words of wisdom.. BACKUP OFTEN! ;)

Ma'am, yes Ma'am!

Fg,
I'm sorry you were having a rough time and I'm glad your puter is up and running. Lit. would miss you. :)
I hope your week improves!

Sometimes all it takes is a few good death threats, and they'll come round. I work with 'em for a living, and you can't tell me they don't each have their own personality.

Defrag....

Before you do it again!!!..... you need do CTL>ALT>DEL reapetedly until you have shut down everything possible! Then you can defrag without the message "Disk contents have changed, restarting"
