Hmmm

Does Chariots of Fire qualify? I also really liked Brian's Song . But you guys already named my other faves: Field of Dreams and Hoosiers .

Ummmmm did Sam Elliott do any sports movies?

Oh yeah, "Life Guard" back in the 1970's

That's an international sports event. :D

RUDY...that was a really good sports movie...

also...REMEMBER THE TITANS...

sports movies arent really my thing, but those 2 i did like ...really uplifting...you know???? :) :) :)

It Happens Every Spring Field of Dreams Grand Prix Hoosiers Caddyshack. Not sure Caddyshack qualifies as a sports movie but there is a lot of truth in that movie about the Private Club Industry:)

Mine are:

Any Given Sunday (1999)
Oliver Stone kicks ass (and cameos as a commentator).

Jerry Maguire (1996)
Hey, he's a sports agent. So sue me.

Fever Pitch (1997)
Brilliant film adapted from the book by Nick Hornby (High Fidelity, About a Boy) about a football-obsessed fan.

Monte Carlo or Bust (1969)
It's a car race - so it is a sports movie. Fantastic comedy starring the late Dudley Moore (RIP).

True Blue (1996)
Fantastically dramatic but little-known feature about the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race.

My Picks

1- Slapshot
2- Bad News Bears
3- Caddyshack
4- Rudy
5- Raging Bull

6- I just saw Mystery Alaska. Not a stellar movie, but inspiring, with a good ending.

Field of Dreams
Bull Durham
Caddyshack
When We Were Kings (documentary - Ali/Foreman)
Slap Shot

Just a View from ME:

1) Hoosiers

2) Bull Durham

3) Raging Bull

4) Bang the Drum Slowly

5) Brian's Song

Somehow, when its a "comedy" the sports aspect gets lost----Sports were my "My Ticket' to college........played 2 at U.S.C (pitched in baseball, and as a freshman/sophmore played tight end in football)

I have to 'chuckle' at T.H. suggesting that "Lifeguard" was a sports movie...........tooooooooooo funny
