She does not deserve you.
you're probably right about that, but I still just can't seem to shut off my feelings for her. I just ain't wired that way. I still want her, but it seems to be getting easier to be around her.

and him.

dunno what to say about him.

sometimes I kinda like him and sometimes I think he's a lot like me.... and then there are times I wanna punch him in the face. the weird thing is that the "punch" feeling has almost nothing to do with her.... he seems to think he knows everything. he even tried to correct me about something the other day.... which I wouldn't have minded if I didn't know he was wrong.

there's a word magicians sometimes use when they do a trick... "voila!" I was showing this guy where something was the other day, and since he's supposed to be so smart and because he was in the band and I figured he'd therefore have some knowledge of musical instruments and would also therefore know I was joking I said, "you go through the door and, viola!"
(for those not in the know, a viola is an orechestral instrument similar to but a little larger than a violin.)

he said, "actually, it's voila!"

I said, "I know.... I was making a joke. I figured you'd pick up on it since you're a musician."

him: "although, they're really spelled the same way."

me: "ummmm.... actually, they're not. they're the same letters, but viola is v-i-o-l-a and voila is v-o-i-l-a."

what pissed me off is he didn't even make any kind of acknowledgement that he was wrong... even a simple, "oh, yeah."

now... I'll be the first to admit I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I think I'm smarter than the average bear when it comes to words and spelling and grammar.... don't correct me unless you're damn sure you know what you're talking about. pinhead.

there was another time I wanted to punch him that did involve her. we were all sitting together at lunch talking about one of the new employees.... some girl that's about as dumb as anyone I've ever seen come through the door.

so, my girl says, "she's a real lack of space." meaning the girl was a waste of space. and he says, "I think you mean she's a waste of space, hon. a lack of space means there's not enough room for something..... like if you tried to put a bunch of elephants in this room, there would be a lack of space." as if his arrogant tone wasn't bad enough, he had to give 2 or 3 more examples... I didn't think he was ever going to shut up. I finally had to tell him, "ok, I'm sure she gets the point."

dick.

I had a friend call a hubcab a tire plate the other day... lol

And I know you can't stop feeling Moon, and I wouldn't respect anyone that could just shut off.

sorry.... can't help it.

wait... I didn't mean I couldn't help making you sound like an idiot. I mean I can't help relating things to music. sometimes it seems like almost everything someone says to me reminds me of a song.

trying to get me all blushy, aren't you?

I'm listening to a great cd someone burned for me last year, good faith by rik emmett. I've been looking for it for a couple of months now... I finally discovered it accidently a few days ago... I thought it was gone forever. some very catchy tunes, some great guitar playing.... and a lot of the songs have nice, upbeat messages. check out these lyrics, the chorus for only a fool:

only a fool takes a leap of faith
on the strength of a butterfly's wings
only a fool thinks he's got what it takes
to carry all the weight that true love brings
only a fool thinks a solitary heart
makes a difference in the scheme of things

ok, that doesn't necessarily sound all that positive, but check out the way it gets turned around in the bridge:

I still believe in the power of love
and I will gladly play the fool again and again

good faith. good stuff.

Sounds nice. I like the semi sad songs.

And what's wrong with making you blush? lol Bet it's cute ;)

you should definitely check out some rik emmett, then. he has some really beautiful stuff. some of it's not sad at all.... just positive and upbeat... and some just flat out kicks ass. he's an amazing guitarist.

and yeah, you're right.... there's not much that's cuter than a blushing marty. ;)

every once in awhile I take advantage of this forum to champion the cause of some great musical act that I don't feel gets enough credit, like dada, shooting star and rik emmett.

lately you might have noticed that I've been mentioning rik again, because I found a cd of his that I thought I'd lost for good. he's a great singer and songwriter and a fantastic guitar player. he used to be in a hard rock band called triumph, but these days he dips into any style he wants, and he covers a wide variety of the spectrum.

this tune's kinda jazzy... actually, it's really jazzy... and besides the great playing I think the lyrics really give you the picture of a place and time.

beacon street hotel
rollin' on up to the beacon street hotel
where the faded neon paints the night pastel
vultures in the lobby grin
check you out as you check in
the bell boy winks as he says, "enjoy your stay"

right down the hall there's an all night hip-hop rave
with a boombox waking the dead up from the grave
no one's heard a word out of security
they're out smokin' reefer on the balcony
it's a saturday night at the beacon street hotel

old willie shinin' shoes in the magazine shop
while the trio in the lounge blows some wicked be-bop
a couple in an elevator half way to the top
making that emergency honeymoon stop

the clock hits a quarter past three but all is well
with the movers and shakers in the beacon street hotel

here we go, boys...

solo

strangers who met on a dance hall floor
are now bouncin' off the wallpaper right next door
the band goes on a break and so they take a little walk
and gossip with the working girls cruising the block

they say beacon street's on the wrong side of the tracks
love and not location is the author of the natural facts
people gotta feed the hunger of the heart somehow
they take whatever's offered in the here and now
that's the story of the comings and goings of the clientele

it's the magic of her spell
the secrets that she keeps so well
the perpetual charm of the beacon street hotel
she's a grand old lady called the beacon street hotel

Hi there! I haven't been around for a while--glad to see you have your own thread here.

You have a great sense of humor---I seem to recall one night when we were all bellied up to the bar, you, me, MontrealGirl, it_matters, and some others . . .all I recall is how much I laughed!

So how are you?! :)

this guy you just decribed...is my ultimate nightmare. The filter my ex and I used to use to eliminate the would be friends from the just nod and walk aways was to say, "You're a poet...and you didn't even realise it" and count the seconds before someone woud say, "oh, actually, its you're a poet and you didnt KNOW it'"...

*cue nod and walk away*

so, i wholeheartedly concur, moonie..
