not much of a holiday weekend, since I had to work saturday, sunday and tomorrow. hopefully you're getting to have more fun than I am. I went to see styx tonight, tho... that was a pretty good time except for being by myself.

Bleh, same ol' fireworks. Did get my mom to make ribs since I was going over to her house lol Now THAT made the day special :D (She's a realllllly good cook. Never met a soul that didn't love her BBQ.)

Have a good Friday mrmoon, I was a little busy yesterday and didn't get a chance to say hi. :)

no hurry.... even if I knew where to look I still probably wouldn't use any. it was merely curiosity.... if I were a cat I'd be dead way more than nine times over by now. ;)

How ya doing tonight mrmoon?

I wonder if anyone else here watches a show called rescue me, denis leary's show about n.y. firemen. I've always thought denis leary was pretty damn funny.... bitingly refreshing in these "politically correct" times. there seems to be almost nothing that he holds sacred, especially religion and the trappings of celebrity.

so.... I dunno how to feel about something that happened on the show last week. leary's character tommy gavin has never been a paragon of virtue, except for the fact that he risks his life to save others. that's always been one reason I watched, because it shows the dark side of these men that are some of the true "heroes" of our world.

tommy goes over to his ex-wife's house to talk over some of the details of the divorce agreement they're working on. not bad enough that they're divorcing, but tommy's recently discovered that she's seeing/sleeping with his brother. the week before, he beat the shit out of his brother at their dad's birthday party.

anyway....

tommy and his ex are talking, then all of a sudden he gets angry, throws her down on the couch and starts raping her. she resists at first, struggling to get away and asking him if it makes him feel like a real man. after a little bit of thrusting, tho, it gets good to her... she winds up having an orgasm, and tommy zips up and leaves with a smirk on his face.

it just wasn't the attitude I expected... maybe down the road the character will feel remorse or something.... which still doesn't make it right, but it's better than seeing a man do something that awful and then be so fucking smug about it. I also never expected to see her getting off on it.... to me it kind of plays up the notion that women deserve to be and even enjoy being treated like shit.

I'm not completely naive.... I know some women fantasize about being raped, but to me the way it was written and portrayed it seemed to play up the idea that "man is king and woman is his property". definitely not that attitude I'd expect from someone that's made a career out of skewering sacred cows like denis leary. I don't think I'll quit watching the show, but I've definitely lost a little bit of respect for him.....

I guess I'm doing ok... I've had a lot of stuff on my mind lately, but most of the time I seem to be dealing with it better than I expected. how be you?

My mother was raped when she was 16 so for me it's a really sensitive subject, and if I'd seen that episode I'd have probably bombed him with hate mail.

And I lost respect for him when he was on a talk show and pretty much spit (yes, literally) in the host's face for believing in God. Don't care what you believe, you don't act like that to anyone. It hadn't even been a joke, no one in the audience was even laughing. I used to like him a lot but he's just got no respect for people anymore, I think.

three things you don't know about me.... unless you already saw this post....

1. when I was younger, I thought I'd be dead long before I turned 40. (42 and counting)
2. sometimes I'm really glad I was wrong
3. sometimes I wish I'd been right

(better than just typing *bump*)

*hugs* to you, too... you seem to be on the most in the early evening or late at night. I haven't been able to do the late night thing much, and I've been trying to spend some time with mom in the evening if I'm not working and I can stay awake. lol. we'll talk soon, tho.
