it seems that the motorcycle wreck of ben what's-his-name from the steelers and the resulting helmet/no helmet debate hasn't really done much to change anyone's opinion. I was out for about 20 minutes earlier today.... saw about 10 bikers, only one was wearing a helmet. one dude wasn't even wearing a shirt.... which really wasn't a good look for him.
I used to ride, and I always wore a brain bucket unless I was just going around the block. I can understand the desire not to wear one... they're hot as hell and you look like more of a bad-ass with the wind blowing through your hair (yes, I used to have hair
). I just had too many freaky things/near accidents happen to me to seriously consider going without one... one time someone in a car going the other way threw a cup of ice at me and hit me in the head.... I'm sure if I hadn't had a helmet on I'd have been laying in the street.
of course, being a bengals fan I'm not too broken up about big ben being hurt, but I'd rather see him injured on the field, at the hands of one of our linebackers
. as for the helmet thing..... I'd think all anyone had to do was see an interview with gary busey.... how could you not wear a helmet after seeing the freak show that he is now?
