Based on seeing about a gazillion campaign ads here in my home state, I've decided on a simple and effective way of winnowing the chaff from the wheat.
1) If you use the word "Utilize" in an advertisement, you're not getting my vote. The word is "use". "Utilize" makes you sound like a government drone and that's exactly what I don't want.
2) If you use the sniper to tout gun control, you're simplifying the question and giving me the wrong answer. No vote there either.
3) If you look like a used car salesman, you're not getting my vote.
4) If you use bad English in an ad, you're an idiot too and not worth my vote.
5) If you're a local politician and you're bringing national issues into your ad, I don't want you in office. Your job is to handle local issues, not national ones. No vote.
Any others I'm forgetting?
