*CPU - Intel Core i7 930
*Memory - 6GB tri-channel DDR3 1333 MHz RAM
*Motherboard - ASUS Sabertooth X58
*PSU - Corsair TX850 850W
*Case - Coolermaster HAF 932
*GPU - Two ATI Radeon HD 5870's in CrossfireX
*Hard drive - 2TB Hitachi 7200RPM HDD
*Drive - DVD-RW
*Cooler - ZALMAN CNPS9900 CPU heat sink and fan
*OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I'll also post some screenshots of Crysis all beefed up.

OH man, I thought you were going to post pictures of your new truck.

Finally a non shit thread from you :)

What are you planning to do with this rig (it sounds awesome), gaming, video editing etc?

I'm saving up to build something as good as that, need to find a decent geology job first though!

Gaming.

Crysis can be extremely taxing on even the fastest PC hardware possible. Maxing out all the settings is almost impossible.

Watch these videos to get what I'm trying to say.

indeed it can, this rig you've built should be able to play it at very high graphics settings. I don't play crysis, I prefer the nore realistic military sim called Arma 2. you get to fly modern military aircraft and drive modern tanks s well as pretending to be a ground soldier.

Not as good graphics as crysis, but arma 2 features fully open worlds or maps which can have large battles taking place al over in online multiplayer, or you can create small scale missions in an editor.

Those Two screenshots of Crysis and ARMA 2 are prime examples why we need so much computational horsepower in the graphics department.

Four way SLI GTX 480.

Although running Four of these in tandem uses more than 1,500 watts of power. Often requiring more than a single power supply, Two power plugs plugged into Two separate circuits, and a hefty electric bill.

Oh Michael, you make me sooooo wet!

I'll probably sell my Two HD 5870's and get maybe $300 for both of them, then pay the difference for the HD 6970 when it comes out.

Meh.

Do it or don't.

Either way you won't get laid.

Cause and effect is so fucking finite.

Imagine being able to play Crysis at resolutions beyond 1920x1080 almost 100 frames per second!
Do you have a 100+ Hz screen? Otherwise you won't get more than the refresh rate of the screen anyway. Which is normally 60 fps.

I've been looking at a 32" 1080p monitor from ACER, not sure about the refresh rate.
