the laker's mediocrity this year stirred some odd thoughts in my messed up head. I have this re-occuring nightmare where the laker's miss the playoffs but get the #1 pick in the lottery. can you imagine Lebron James with kobe and shaq.
The fix is in I tell ya! the fix is in. If the Laker's miss the playoffs they get the #1 pick, the nba gets a dynasty to rival bill russell's celtics and Lebron James gets on an experienced team where he has time to learn the nba game.
If he goes somewhere like cleaveland he'll drown. he wont make it being a teams go to guy his rookie year. he needs time to grow and mature. he needs to see how the game is supposed to be played, by professionals. not by a bunch of kids like the cav's have. The NBA is not going to let the biggest endorsement in their history slip through the cracks into oblivion.
The Fix Is In!!

I have a feeling that LeBron "King" James is in for a whole lot of growing up in the next few years...

yeah he'll either overdose or get shot in a gang war. he needs some serious guidence.
problem number one is his mother. she bought his this car. presumibly using his future riches as callateral. do you seriously think she could afford a $50,000 vehical. he has no parental figure showing him how to be a man. how to be a good person.
I live in syracuse, we have carmelo anthony up here. the kid was prejected to go in the top ten of last years draft. his mother wanted him to go to college. so he went. she told him the money could wait. the fame could wait. you need something for yourself when basketball is over.
the kid is the biggest thing in town. there hasnt been a better player here ever.
when carmelo comes out he'll make everyone forget lebron james. he may not be as flashy as lebron but he's got better post moves, can rebound and shoot much better.
the thing that impresses me the most is carmelo is putting up the same numbers as lebron against better competition.

People always have negative things to say about young NBA hopefuls making gobs of money, but oddly these same people have no problem with even younger tennis players and gymnasts making millions.

Nah.. James going to the Lakers is just too damn obvious..

But, I do think the NBA needs to prohibit the Cavs from drafting him..

i dont really have a problem with lebron making money. my problem is that the kid is highly overrated and those closest to him, those who should care the most are the ones exploiting him. Get your money kid go ahead. I'm just saying. carmelo has a better group of people around him who are looking out for carmelo's best interests. Lebron clearly doesn't have that. if he did someone would have said "dont take those jersey's kid, that's trouble." "Don't buy that car Mrs. James he can buy his own in six months." the kid has no role models, no one to show him the way and he's heading for disaster if he ends up on the wrong team.

And why, exactly shouldn't he have taken the jerseys or accepted his mother's gift of a truck? I'm at a loss as to what he has to gain by not taking them.

but it could happen. it happened when the knicks got Ewing. i just dont like the way this is shaping up. I almost want the lakers to make the playoffs just so the have no shot at lebron. its safer that way.

well because its illegal for an amatuer to accept gifts. the truck was ruled legal cuz it came from his mom. he almost got kicked off the team for the jersey's. his team would have forfitted a bunch of games and their number1 ranking if the suspension had stood. now i'm sure lebron could care less but what about the other ten kids who wont go t the nba who are just trying to win in high school.
it's a team sport and lebron has no regaurd for his team. it speaks volumes about his character or lack there of.

Why would he care if he gets kicked off a high school team that is shamelessly exploiting his talent and fame while he receives no remuneration? It speaks volumes about White administered athletic leagues who've set up a system of slavery for young, quite often Black, athletes. As republicans are so fond of saying, he deserves exactly what the free market will bear for his services.

that's what im saying is he wouldnt care. thats the problem. he can take a handout in six months when he is a pro. he could of skipped senior year and sat it out waiting for the draft. but there are other kids on that team. kids who do care. kids who want to win, who may never play organized basketball again after high school. it's not all about lebron. he doesnt think about his actions or there consequences. he has no one to show him the way. he's in trouble but i guess no one else sees that.

That's so much hogwash. Lebron James is responsible for looking out for the interests of Lebron James. When he's 38 years old and his skills have deteriorated, the owner of whatever teams he's on won't think twice about letting him go. No matter how many Championships Lebron will have won, the owner of the team will act in his own best interests. The same goes for any other business. Lebron James is a business, and he shouldn't be held to an arbitrary code of conduct that other business men are never held to. I question the motives of people who would suggest that he not act in his interests, when that is the much vaunted American way. It's the system that wants to exploit his talent for nothing that's morally wrong.

ok for one if the kid wins championships he not be cut like some rookie division ii player. jordan was never cut, bird was never cut magic was never cut. yes there is a code of conduct in the nba( see the all-star game for reference) I'm not saying he shouldnt look out for lebron. he should. but he shouldnt look out for just lebron. and if keeps looking out for #1 like he has been his nba career will be short lived.

He should look out for Lebron and none other. I'm not saying that he should play selfishly, as that could negatively effect his ability to be a championship player. But as far as money is concerned, he should follow the addage, "To thine own self be true." Just as Bill Gates and Donald Trump look out for number one, so should Lebron.

And star sports stars get traded and released all of the time. Adrian Dantley was a scoring machine. He helped the Detroit Pistons get to an NBA championship in 1990, and they let him go before the championship series. For some reason you feel that athletes should be held to some ridiculous code that doesn't apply to anyone else in the society. I say that these are men who should look out for them and theirs as with everyone else.
