My Little Pony...

Now I shall be off a googling as the name isn't familar but I feel safe assuming he made Ren n Stimpy which. . .how the fuck did they get away with that on Nick back in the day?

He did, and yes, Nick aired it - which was amazing.

He also made Mighty Mouse - The New Adventures with Ralph Bakshi, which in effect launched the careers of multiple animation mainstays for the decades that followed, and put television cartoons back in the "winning" category.

Wow, Might Mouse, I always thought that was a lot older than it apparently is. It seemed like one of those things that was old when I was a kid but Ren n Stimpy. . .seriously. How did Nick put that on the air and for a couple of years no less? That ranks up there with Invader Zim on the who was paying attention meter? Especially when they owned Mtv (or vice versa I have no idea who the parent company is) that had stuff like Aeon Flux and other not for kids cartoons. Imagine where'd we'd be today if cartoons r 4 kids had been broken fucking ten years prior to when it was actually unofficially destroyed. We're still digging out of that hole.

And I don't mean MLP which I love but it's still a kids show. I want more Archer and fucking Death Note.

And holy shit it looks like they are planning something that resembles a story arc this season though season 1 looked like that too.

There was the original Mighty Mouse - in which Mighty Mouse is a superhero mouse.

Then there was Mighty Mouse - The New Adventures - in which his girlfriend sarcastically says she could walk home without being flown in his arms all the time, or the narrator gets chewed out by on-screen characters, or the villains break the 4th wall by admitting to behavioral disorders, or they bring back characters from the 1940s via blocks of ice and make them awkward in modern life as a result, etc.

Okay, I was unaware of the newer one or at least had them confused in my head. Every so often I end up finding out that some of these shows had like a billion versions.

Dude's a legit big shot.

They didn't. I think itwas part way through the second or 3rd season that John K got fired for pushing too far. Went downhill after that. There were a few unaired episodes you can get on the dvd

You know I'm all about freedom of speech and all that but Ren and Stimpy shouldn't have been on Nick. I'm not saying it shouldn't have been made, i'm not even saying that if parents are cool with their kids watching it that I have a problem with THAT per se, I know I'll inform parents that South Park is on but it's not my job to parent other people's kids. Still it shouldn't be in the block with fucking Rugrats and Doug. Just like Spawn and Blade shouldn't follow Spiderman and the Fantastic Four.

Ren and Stimpy wasnt much worse then the old loony toons cartoons. A little more violent and more toilet humor but thats about it. Bugs and Elmer would go into the same psychotic rages that Ren did.

I agree that It should have stayed in that Sunday night block with Are you afraid of the the dark.

I don't remember there being near as much sex and thinly vieled profanity on Loony Toons. Sure you had cross dressing Bugs but not a whole lot of lets go to the beach episodes. Though Looney Toons were easily more violent.

A SNICK was Saturday night but that would have been a fine spot as that was aimed at the tween and teen audience as opposed to Sunday morning where it was sanddwiched between again Rugrats and Doug, then later Ahh Real Monsters. I don't remember Rocko's Modern Life very well but but my room mate insists that was another one that the censors just weren't paying very close attention or it would have been nixed.

Actually looking back rocko was probably worse then ren and stimpy. Rocko had blood, hell was written out in a few episodes, and he was a phone sex operator at one point. I'm pretty sure the frog lady tried to rape rocko at one point too

I honestly don't remember much of that show. Like most people growing up I went through a fewere (never no) cartoon phase that took out Rocko, Ah Real Monsters and pretty much everything else between like 97-2000 and then I was in the Marines from 01-05 so. . .yeah I just didn't have regular access to a television that I could dominate and Fox News is considered a neutral channel in the military.

I think rocko ran from like 93-94 to 96. It was the tail end of ren amd stimpy

Edit.

I tend to forget you have like 5 years or so on me

The ending of that episode was fucking classic.

Rarity: I was a horrible bitch.
Apple Jack: Yup, you were.
Rainbow Dash: I know honesty is your thing but what the fuck over?

Cool! I'll head for that one. It seemed like things stayed random but got less clever. Less in the way of word play, less in the way of creative story lines and more in "there's a crystal we must get to save the kingdom!"

I named one of my ponies in Everquest 2 "Fluttershy"

That was me. I told you that. I played one!

Where the goddamned hell did Recidiva go ?
