I'm new here and I thought about doing a little introduction

I'm a 35 year old man from Finland, you can call me Kris, Nice to meet you all
My interest in writing for my own pleasure started the same way as for many others in my teen years. And I also kept travel journal during my backpacking trips in Europe and South East Asia. Also while living abroad in Norway, Slovenia and Iceland I wrote diaries.

And to the topic at hand, I recently started writing an erotic fantasy story inspired by a Dungeons and Dragons campaign by my friend. He is aware, but if he decides that he doesn't like that my story is based on his campaign, I'll of course make some retconning and changes to the story to make it different.

First in the beginning my story was a fantasy story, but then it quickly turned to erotica. Then again even if there is sex, I wanted more than that. I wanted to write a proper story with real people and real situations even if it is a fantasy world.

The story isn't complete, at this point it is 25 pages long and I have no plans of quitting any time soon One thing I must admit that the story has a lot of mistakes and typos, but I'm trying to flesh those out. Another thing I am shamed to say is that I used an AI for my aid, but if I'm brutally honest, I have used only maybe 1/5 of it's suggestions. Most of the time I use maybe one sentence and replace the rest or just write the whole part myself. The AI has only maybe 4 times suggested something that was just right.

I have been sharing the story with few of my friends and I have only got positive feedback so far, and I don't want to sound arrogant in anyway. Only thing I'm worried now is that someone might steal my work. It's something that I didn't really think about. I just found the passion to write and i want to share my story. So obviously I'd like to post my unfinished work here, but if someone steals it... Well I guess there is no fool proof way to protect a book anyway. Oh and not to offend anyone, but I'm sensitive about criticism and it is something I should work on, usually if I see one bad comment I think my work is the worst and so am I.

Anyway, looking forward hearing from everyone. And if all goes well I'll post my work here soon.

You used an AI? Or Spelling (& Grammar) Checker? I think most of us would think those are different things.

I found the app last week, it isn't very popular. The way it works is that you can give background info for your story, ad characters and either start the story yourself or let the AI start it, the AI gives suggestions based on the information you have given to it. Most of the time though I'm disappointed with the suggestions.

AI's write entire sections of stories based on the criteria you enter. After that, you edit, polish, add to and take away from their writing. It isn't real writing to me. While tools like Grammarly, AutoCrit, or ProWritingAid only give suggestions to improve the technical aspect of the work. AI's are expensive to use while the others cost nowhere near as much.

Like Captain Spock, "I'm understandably curious," which did you actually use, an AI or writing aid?

Question answered, stop using it! Just a very friendly suggestion, ;)

I mean I know how it sounds, but still it is at least 80% me, I can say that with confidence. Still you are right, I should just stop using it, anyway I hope you'll like it

Are AIs helpful for people trying to write in a foreign language? I could really do with something that offered me grammatical options in languages I'm not perfect in, and then could tweak to make more precise and interesting.

First rule here is that you should write to please yourself. I imagine there were people who scorned writers using the first thesaurus. What? You mean you actually didn’t know all those synonyms? Rubbish! Yes, having an AI help seems very strange to me, but that only leads me back to Rule One. I’m not sure that it’s any different than using a beta reader or editor - the idea is to create, not create while strictly adhering to somebody else’s rules. At day’s end, there’s a story for readers to enjoy and that’s the thing. I wouldn’t use one, but I’m an old dog.

So, that said, welcome to our crazy world.

I guess another rule would be to grow a thick skin, because everything posted here draws criticism. Some of it is actually helpful, but some is simply petty, mean-spirited and ugly. One of necessity learns to ignore such comments. I think of it as being like toddlers who, lacking the coordination to build a tall stack of wooden blocks themselves, take their pleasure from knocking down stacks built by others with more talent.

WRT spelling and such, I can honestly say that your original post is on par with the writing of many with English as their milk tongue. Yes, there are minor errors and I can see you benefiting from the services of an editor, but I’m jealous of your fluency.

Last point is theft. Yes, it’s an issue, to the point that it’s been discussed here quite a few times. Posting here is an opportunity some accept and some decline. It’s your call.

Again, welcome, or in your case, tervetuloa!

I find this one more useful to get ideas what to write, especially when you are starting out

You said you write for your own pleasure, but worry about detractors.

I won't say you're wrong; most of us can be sensitive to criticism.

Keep in mind this; there are people on the internet who feel it's their only purpose in life to attack things.

And you'll see that in responses to your stories.

You could just turn off comments, save yourself from that.

Or, just learn to take the constructive criticism and ignore the ignorant ones.

Sometimes, one must develop thick skin in order to write stories which might upset the INCELS out yonder. After all, the acronym stands for Ignorant Nerdy Clitdicked Elitist Loser Slobs you know, goes without saying they have issues. It's an international club that seems to expand by leaps and bounds when one of the nonmembers realize they'll never get pussy!

I post two brand spanking new stories today. One a cuckold story, with the beginning of feminization of the husband included in an encounter at swing club. And the other, a black man, has new friends over for a barbecue, but he fucks the other man’s wife, while the husband is doped and forced to watch. I’m working on an abduction story of an older black man kidnapping a young white woman and making her his slave. I’m sure they will have detractors, but they aren’t going in loving wives. So, shouldn’t be too bad.

My friend, Kristhor, post them, ignore the negative and concentrate on the positive comments. Stick your toe in the water, then dive in, it's wonderful here in the deep end.

I found out that my text has a lot of grammatical errors, so I have been fleshing it out since yesterday, probably I'll be done today. Also I need to split it in chapters like a normal book :ROFLMAO:
