Not that I've been there, but the name "Blackpool" just never sounded appealing to me. I imagine a large mud puddle. And "Liverpool" doesn't sounds much better, at least as a name. :D The "shires", on the other hand, sound quite nice and refined.

As for Chicago, it is indeed very nice. (I still owe you a list of Chicago stuff, BTW.) Are the donkeys truly necessary? I could substitute, I've been known to make an ass of myself. *Ba-dum ching!*
Lol Blackpool is in Lancashire :p
I think Liverpool is too but with my awful geography i shall wait to be corrected - it could be merseyside but im not sure if thats a county in its own right or not.
And maybe i should join you on that idea of it being a mud puddle. Ive just trawled the net in search of pretty Blackpool pictures and they arent too flattering.
I have spent many fab days there though, its like the epitome of english seaside towns :D

You do still owe me that list, and the longer i wait the more "interest" i add

I think Liverpool was in Lancashire, then in 1974 (maybe) Merseyside was created as an extra county.

I could look it up but I'm not that much of a geek!

Half true.

The reorganisation of the administrative counties chopped off the South of Lancashire to create Greater Manchester and Merseyside, and other (smaller) parts were put into Cheshire & Derbyshire.

On the other hand, large parts of Westmoreland (dissolved) and Yorkshire, particularly West Craven and Bowland were put into Lancashire, for administrative purposes only

That last bit is important. The government announced at the time, and have done since, that the historic counties still exist with their old boundaries as pre-1970s changes.

This means that (importantly for me) the Yorkshire Ridings still exist, and (far far less importantly for me) Liverpool is still in Lancashire </Tykegeek>

Thanks for the clarification. And then postal addresses are something else altogether, e.g Middlesex now only exists as a county for postal purposes (and to give its name to a university.*)

* I haven't included the cricket team and hospitals as they existed before the reorganisations.

Ooops, I certainly showed my ignorance there. Thanks for the explanation. I'm sure Blackpool is nice, lj.

Hi lj

AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! You've now thrown me into total confusion. I'd love to see more photo's of you but then if I don't I have the excuse of accosting all beautiful redhead girls.......

....I have an idea. Do you have any distinguishing marks you can include in your pics that I can search every redhead for after I've accosted them.

Well, you could check if they have a wonderfully warped random sense of humour.... ;)
