My digital camera is here..

lol I would love to be able to help you out there but I can't even give good directions on how to get somewhere! I am directionally challenged too!

Was going to borrow my heighbours camera but he can't find all the pieces? I mean who pulls their digital camera to pieces?

I can't help you with how to use it, but I DO expect to see some pics posted (or at least e-mailed to me) of you. ;)

USB port is a small slit that the square rectangular metal pin goes into.

Sara is one hot doggie!

May I inquire as to what you purchased for a camera? I may stick a digital on my X-mas list though I am not totally sold on them until they make 10 million pixel ones(the resolution of color film). Film processing is proving expensive though.

First, USB devices can be changed with the computer on and still work properly -- so you don't really need the hub unless it's a real pain to get to the USB ports on your computer.

With a scanner you have better control over picture resolution and size. The camera will produce pictures with a set resolution and size and you may want a digital copy with higher resolution if you plan to print copies.

You scare me.. you think my dog is hot?? oh.. i'll take one of Samantha too.. she's a cross between a german shepard and a basset hound.. i'm sure you'd love her.. ;)

I bought the Movi Cool I Cam from QVC

its a 4 in 1 camera

Digital Camera, Web Camera, Video Camera (up to 30 minutes with sound) and a Voice Memo (i haven't messed around with this feature yet, so no idea what it does)

there is another thread on the board.. something about digital cameras, and i have a link to qvc and the item number, later tonight i'll find it and post it here..

Right now i have to go get ready to leave (have to leave in 5 minutes  )

Gotta run

bye!

I figured out the USB thing.. yeah they are simple to switch, so i'm not going to get a hub (it's not recommended to be used with the camera anyway).

I use the same program for my scanner and my camera.. MGI Photosuite.. it's a simple program. And i can mess with the size and everything of my pictures from the camera and the scanner. The program that the camera came with is ok, just didn't have time to mess with it yet.. so i'm using MGI.. I'm a creature of habit.. hate learning new things.. :)

that picture i took of Sara was taken using the lowest res on the camera.. I am just now figuring out all the options on the camera..

I'm excited because it can be used as a web cam too.. ;)

Actually, I think the tests have shown that depending on the film, resolutions of 5-7 MP are indistinguishable from film for resolution purposes.

There are a number of cameras (pro quality and expense) that are now in that resolution range. There are a number of consumer cameras that come close (4 MP) for about $1K, and I am very happy with my 3.3 MP Canon G1 camera. If I was a pro I would get something better, but for msot of my photos I love the convenience of digital cams. It is not just the lesser expense of not having film processing, it is more the immediate feedback. There have been a number of photos that I flubbed that I could see I flubbed them immediately, so I deleted them and took them over again. Try that with film.

Or you can just get another USB port to put into your computer. I have four USB ports.

Why a scanner? You are going to get a lot better resolution, color and lighting with a scanner, and it is a lot more convenient for most flatwork.
