I just got a call.
My bid was accepted: i'm buying a house.
That doesn't seem like anything big, i know, and in actuality this is the fifth house that i've purchased in my life.
But all the others were mine and his.
This one is mine and mine alone.
My name, all by itself on the deed.
Mine.
My house.
It's brand new. It's yellow. It's got a big porch and pale yellow climbing roses that are already in bloom all across the railing. It's got cool tile and great carpeting and lots double-paned windows and great landscaping. It's got four bedrooms and three bathrooms and a big fenced yard for the dog. It's got mile-high ceilings and lots of places into which somewhat hidden rings and hooks and other gear can be attached. It's got glass brick in the bathrooms and walk-in closets. It's got two gas fireplaces and a laundry room on the second floor, where all the bedrooms are located. It's the first new house i've ever bought.
And it's mine.
I'm moving in when escrow closes, within 60 days from tomorrow.
This is another act in comedy/drama/expose/live action adventure/documentary that is my life.
