war

You read of war and endless strife
fleeting love and shortened life
Our youth, the cannon fodder lay wasted
the joys of life remain untasted
Conscripted, trained and then deployed
to a foreign land and there destroyed
It seems so senseless they should go
to fight a people they don't know
Why is a yankee or a dixie son
so far from home-totin' a gun?
Could some VERY wealthy folks
create these wars as obscene jokes
to further the power they think they need
and satisfy their lust and greed
while the people-the herded sheep
still remain-fast asleep?

They go to war
On foreign shore
To keep alight
The flame of freedom.

Men of hate
Lie in wait
To drown it
In rivers of blood.

The price we pay
If free we'd stay
Comes dearly
From our youth.

Sane men all
Hear the call
Feel dread
At what must come.

The measured cost
In futures lost
Weighs heavily
On each of us.

Refuse to pay
Comes the day
The dream is done
The nightmare won.

This was poet's corner, wasn't it?

aftermath

The deed is done
the battle is won
When do we take stock
of what is lost?

In the strife
The loss of life
The price, you see
For Liberty.

Your turn!

LOL

a competition huh?

I'm off my head
So on to bed
I leave the prose
To them who knows.

This thing is going downhill faster than a speed skier.;)

Eden

Looking around
In a Dream
We saw it all Burning down

How Could it possibly end?
We were given...
Given total Command

It would have to be us
That bring down the Curtain

I don't think we could do that

I know we couldn't do that
