We have an 1880 Steiner at home that cant be retuned properly and the ivory keys are two short now.... many layers of french polish

Oh, I'm kinda a pianist.

Piano

Angel by Sarah McLaughlin (sp?)
Faithfully by Journey
The Choice by John Waite

Sometimes you just to sit down, and play. I may laugh, or cry, or whatever while I'm playing. But I have a good time when I'm playing.

I used to play trumpet in a jazz band in college...I miss it very much.

edited to add: Lav, how quickly would it take for our downstairs neighbors to call in a noise complaint if I started practicing again?

well i used to be a percussionist. But i haven't played in a few years.

notice i didn't say "drummer".

"Drummer" and "Percussionist" two totally different things...

Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist

I'm beginning to have rediscover my appreciation for people with musical talents...the images one can paint in your mind, watching that side of their passion as they play... *sigh*
:)

Sorry, I just sing very badly in that way

Where are you and your many blueberries?

Many wind instruments. Some keyboard - mostly synths. Wind synthesizer. Some bass. A small amount of guitar. Two degrees in music.

Actually saw some of my old professors last week and they all remembered me even though I hadn't gone back to visit in 15 years - that was really cool. It was great catching up with them.

There really isn't any pieces I play to soothe me - I don't play much anymore, unfortunately - though I still compose.

Guitar

Mood for a day by Steve Howe: for when I'm in a mellow mood

The Clap by Steve Howe: for when I'm feeling playful

Ten Years Gone by Led Zeppelin: for when I'm thinking about a cetain girl

Rock and Roll by Led Zeppelin: for just flat out feeling like rattling the fucking windows and scaring animals and neighbors

Train Kept a Rollin by the Yardbirds: for use only when I'm playing opposite my long time guitar partner. Crazy one side and crazy on the other

White Summer/Black Mountainside by Jimmy Page: for when I;m feeling a little on the exotic side

Beck's Bolero by Jeff Beck: for twin guitar harmony fun

I am a pianist myself...

Depending on my mood I'll play a certain composer...

Anything by Rachmaninoff...been fiddling around with his 1st, 2nd and 3rd concertos. As well as Trios Elegiaque.

Working on a couple Beethoven sonatas.

I don't usually play Liszt, but I like playing Chopin etudes and nocturnes.

And I like to play Fiona Apple songs from her first album.

That's what I'm playing this month.

I play the piano, flute, oboe, saxophone and Irish tin whistle.

Of all of those I play the flute the best and enjoyed playing the oboe the most. The one I play most often is the piano.

My favorite pieces for piano are Moonlight Sonata, Rhapsody in Blue, and Tchaikowsky's Concerto #1 in C. I know, pretty mundane stuff.

Might I add one of my favourite memories was sitting in the loft of a cathedral... and a friend of mine playing the pipe organ late at night, and it was pink floyd, dark side of the moon, most of the album.

Magic.

Listening to a good guitarist goes down well too

Pyper, what about?
Clair de lune
Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini
Piano Concerto No. 3 In D Minor, Op. 30 - Allegro Ma Non Tanto

Some of my favorites....

Two pianos, two organs, a synth/keyboard, violin, ukelele, bass, elec & acoustic guitars, alto and soprano recorders, clarinet. Sang in a few garage bands in university.

Fur Elisse

Dead Flowers

Well I certainly wouldn't call those pieces mundane, especially the Tchaikovsky concerto. Moonlight Sonata is on the verge of mundane, like Fur Elise.

Hey gumby, I am having a hell of a time playing the cadenza in the Rachmaninoff 3rd, can you play it?

Saxophones (most baritone, but the others as well), clarinet (bass and Bb), Euphonium (not well), TRumpet (Not well at all), and bass guitar (fair to middling).

I sing also, and that's what I spend most of my musical energy on these days.

I study voice and harp. I perform for money classical and modern. This is one of my jobs, but sometimes i don't feel like a real live musician --just a really good fake, lol.

I also taught myself piano and guitar. My favorite thing is to just improvise or compose. I do find some songs i come back to play when i'm in a mood or trying to get in a mood if that makes sense. those songs change a lot though. :/
