If Leroy Brown was the "baddest man in town" how did he end up "looking like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone"?

House of the Rising Sun

If "the only thing a gambler needs is a suitcase and a trunk" why do they need a suitcase and a trunk? If they don't need anything else, what are they putting in them?

That's the second reference to Jim Croce I've seen on here tonight. Stop it, now. Please.

If every hand is a winner and every hand is a loser why bother playing?

Friday I'm in Love

If Monday you could fall apart, Tuesday and Wednesday have your heart broken, and if Thursday doesn't even start, how would you then proceed to Friday, and why on EARTH would you still be in love?

Is the German release of the Outkast single re-titled to "Hey Ja"?

LMAO!

Or, would the German tribute band be known as the "Ja, Ja, Ja's"?

By the same token, in The Book of Love:

"In Chapter Three remember the meaning of romance
In Chapter Four you break up but you give her just one more chance"

If you remembered the meaning of romance, why did you break up?

Because the song isn't about love it's about convienient sex.

Key word "was", like you said.

I thought we were only going with the strictly literal interpretations.

Then obviously, there was a guy who was badder than Big Bad Leroy Brown.

So why wasn't the song written not about Leroy Brown, but the guy who was bigger and badder than he?

Well, I am at a disadvantage, I don't know a lot about messin' with the wife of a jealous man.

Maybe Stagger Lee killed Leroy Brown

It's the jealous wives you have to watch out for. ;)

Perhaps Jim Croce didn't think "Big Bad Cuckold Bob" had the same musical ring.

If "All you need is love", why did they make you pay for the record?

If The Magical Mystery Tour is coming to take me away, then why am I still here?

(Q, I love this thread!)

~~Well, he's big, bad, cuckold Bob,
His wife had sex with the whole damn mob~~

Here's a bit of a logistical problem from Bo Donaldson and the Haywoods:

"The marchin' band came down along Main Street
The soldier-blues fell in behind
I looked across and there I saw Billy
Waiting to go and join the line
And with her head upon his shoulder
His young and lovely fiancee
From where I stood, I saw she was cryin'
And through her tears I heard her say:

"Billy, don't be a hero....."

Okay, so he managed to hear this intimate whisper from across the street, with a whole parade in between he and them??

When you are with me
I'm free
I'm careless
I believe
Above all the others
We'll fly
This brings tears
to my eye

My Sacrifice

how exactly is this a sacrifice?
