I'm sure this has been covered a gazillion times, but I've searched, didn't find, so am posting :)

What music do you like to listen to when you're setting the mood (whatever that mood may be) for a night with your SO? Do you prefer something sultry and classical, something meaningful to the two of you, no music at all? Hubby and I sometimes have music but it's never something we really plan. I have 5 months to plan his return  so I want to plan something super nice :)

Anything by Enya but then I'm biased. Everytime I hear her Celts CD I think of the first time I met Alyx.

Isn't that wonderful?
It's beautiful, sometimes because of the peace it brings the parents ;) and sometimes just to watch and listen.

Feh, my bloody CD player died in the stereo in the bedroom. So I just have it set to a local classical music station. It's largely ignorable.

I do rather like Vivaldi though, and I have a great opera comp CD for the really elegant scenes. Probably one of the most beautiful impromptu scenes I've put together involved that CD.

I spread a soft blanket on the floor of my home office (it's the only place where I can reliably get privacy from the kids), put a velvet cover and a few candles over a low table, set a video of a fireplace on fullscreen on the computer, and turned the lights out. I brought her downstairs into the office with her eyes closed, and had her open them. Then I had her kneel on the floor and slowly brushed her hair with a very nice handmade brush that I'd just bought her. It was incredibly lovely.

Placido Domingo in the background just brought it all together, and helped make the event really memorable. As this was the first time "w" and I did anything more than kissing together, it really set the tone for what has since followed.

i don't generally like to use music--i find that as a rule it distracts me--but i'm surprised nobody's mentioned ravel's bolero.

I like Rammstein - the wife prefers Fauré's Requiem.

So we usually leave the stereo off.

(Our tastes in porn are much more compatible)

Wow. I thought this had inched it's way into oblivion :)

I like music and was wondering if there was something, an artist or song or whatever, that I'd not heard of/forgotten about that might be nice to mix things up a bit.

I have a problem shutting my brain down and just feeling and so music helps me relax :)

Well..... music is emotion and emotion is very personal. What may get me in the mood can spoil it for others. Because memories are attached or just because it's sooo not their cup of tea.

But if you tell us what music you like already we might come up with something that is similar style and mood-wise?

I like anything that is jazzy, soft, romantic (but not zappy) and stylish/sassy and sometimes dramatic, depending on my mood. I like Chet Baker, music from the movie City of Angels is good... Older stuff? Sade maybe?

Ok :) Unless I want to have my brain wander and catch myself singing along, I generally play classical on those rare times the house is empty and we can actually set a mood (we use incense that's only burned on 'our' time as well). I prefer Beethoven and Tchaikovsky. I'm not sure I have a copy of Ravel's Bolero floating around the house, so may need to grab one.

We both like blues and jazz, but not the 'lounge' kind. So maybe a good blues or instrumental jazz would be nice?

I'm sure I"m going to plot and plan the pouncing upon his return and *nothing* will go right *laughs* but it'll still be good, because he'll be home. :)

Mazuri, Perhaps you would enjoy the "Playboy After Dark" Jazz CD's. I believe there are 3 of them out now. Check ebay and amazon.com... they are wonderful!

Anything by the Dead Can Dance, Enigma, Moby, etc.
Jazz - try the David Brubeck Quartet, or there's a CD called "The Music For A Night Of Passion" - the music is pretty good.

Being in my 50's the few times I do get lucky I like to set the mood with love ballads of the 70's and 80's, Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing, his Let's Get it On, Luther Van Dross, The Isley Brothers, Carly Simon, Elton John etc. but it all has to do with what kind of music you and he prefer. Try songs that you and he listened to while courting. Anyway have fun and I wish you a great reunion
