Music sharing thread...

One more tonight. Some of you might not get this one, as it uses some "funny" words. ;) But my husband used to love this song, and he'd sing to it at the top of his lungs. The music isn't bad, either, especially the mad frenzy at the end. :) Enjoy...if you can.

Hypnotic Clambake - The Feldmans

Revival of thread.

OK, this is not Christmas, but it's a carefree song of what most, if not all of us, wish for, from Jimmy Buffett.

Which, of course, is the genre that's made Jimmy Buffett so popular. Singing about what we all REALLY wish for.

So, as a Christmas wish to all of Lit, enjoy this.

Wow. I feel like I just hit the jackpot. Thanks for the link, Stirbird.

There are a few I listened to and then deleted but a lot of them are good. Next year I can make an alternative Christmas CD as well as a traditional one and now I'm well into having a complete Hanukkah CD too.

How do you find all these things?

Beats me, Lava! The link to that place came from http://www.boingboing.net, a silly links/interesting news place I go to when I am bored.

That is very cool news about the CDs. Would you share a few songs from your Hanukkah one? I am not Jewish but I am a big fan. I'd love to hear some of those songs. :)

Have you heard the song, "Christmas Shopping Blues?" It's a funny one. I have it on a CD somewhere with other "Blues Christmas" tunes.

I haven't heard that song and since I hate shopping (I missed out on one of the girly genes) I'm certain I'd like it.

I'll see if I can post any songs for you but since I've gotten most of them from you that's going to be tough.

Did you ever find the Soukouss music you were searching for?

Well if I can ever figure out the abtruse art of ripping (seriously, I've never done it before!), you'll get "Christmas Shopping Blues." :) Some of the songs on that CD are really depressing. There's a jazz-y one I'll upload too that is fascinating for its bleakness, assuming I can figure out the technical details.

I found some Soukouss. A couple keeper songs but most were so-so. The music is very peppy, with African beats and modern instruments. You know the Paul Simon album that used all the African music as its base? Take that sound and Westernize it a couple of notches more and you get Soukouss.

I also found an African group that isn't Soukouss but that I like better. They are called Ladysmith Black Mambazo. They do some nice gospel and acapella stuff.

Do you have windows media player? If so, I can paste screen shots instructions. *laughing* If I can figure out how to do that.

I liked that Paul Simon album. Music appeals to me based a lot on rhythm just like art appeals to me based mainly on color. I'm simple that way.

I've been listening to Pandora radio a lot online lately and thus am hearing new groups to add to my "I want" collection.

Pandora radio? Never heard of it! But I'd like to. I actually find new songs that way, too. Someone in one of the shadier areas of yahoo chat is a dj on a net station and simulcasts her song announcements in the chat channel. I picked up some funky country tunes that way.

Color is one of my primary art-choosing things too. In photos, it's a little different. While I like color, photos (and a few paintings) convey to me memories or nostalgia or some sort of feeling that I recognize as having before, so I value the ones that do that the best.

And yes I have Media player, so screen shot away, if you can. It would be appreciated!

I can't do screen shots, dang it!

Open windows media player
put your CD in your E drive (or wherever)
select the RIP tab
it will probably preselect all the songs on your cd. remove the check from any you don't want to rip.
start RIP

Pandora radio is awesome. It's free. You select an artist or song and it sets that up as a "radio station" and plays similar music. You can have bunches of different stations. You can thumbs down on a song and it won't play again. You can thumbs up on a song and you'll hear it again but it may take a while. They have a pretty extensive library.

Most cool of all, you can input a friends email address and listen to their "radio stations" but you can't select music for them.

Those ripping instructions look good enough for me! :)

Now if I can only find that darn CD. It is being coy (or maybe it's just my disaster of a house. :/ ) Would you like to hear something from "A Barbershop Christmas" in the meantime? I did find that CD, hehe.

Thank you very much for the link to Pandora. I will explore it extensivesly, probably over this next three-day weekend. :)

Sure, I have a couple of deep, dark secrets. One is that I like the occasional barbershop quartet and polka as well.

:) Admitting to Polka takes bravery! My mom had Austrian alps polka records that I listened to as a kid and loved. When I search for Polka music, however, I never seem able to find songs that sounded like those.

Huzzah! Arc De Rat is back from wherever it is she goes. (The Rat Cave?) Looking forward to listening to this one. :)

Lava, I haven't forgotten my promise. Just got to get over my tech phobia enough to try a rip (kind of stupid to have a tech phobia when one makes one's living in tech, isn't it? Well, as long as my clients don't find out... ;) )

Hey sb! *hug*

I clicked the link you left at The Artist's Corner, and here you are! I'll try to contribute some music links or mp3s here. ^_^

Is this thread still alive? I need a song that is poving to be very elusive. It's called 1-4-7-1 by Liverpool band Tramp Attack. Can anyone help?

Cheers

It's alive, just hibernating.

I don't have that one. Is there anything similar that would do?
