Music sharing thread...

All the files posted tonight are downloading OK for me, including your uploads and that Bob Dylan one. I click the link in the forum to go to the webpage. Then I right-click, save-as the link on the easy share webpage. If you left click the link on easy-share, it won't work. Does that help?

I've never heard of Lazlo, but I downloaded the song you posted, deRat. :) Now I justs has to listen to it!

The following set is dedicated to that other thread that I love:

Aqua - Lollipop (Candyman)
(kinky 80s-style high camp--where the fuck is "Bounty Land," anyway? )

Dave Van Ronk - Candy Man
(very nice bluesy version of this song from Ol' Scratchy Voice)

The Chordettes - Lollipop
(NOT Aqua's version--thank goodness! This is the oldie's song)

Marcy's Playground - Sex and Candy
(slow sizzle)

Go-Gos (or Bow-wow-wow?) - I Want Candy
(bubble-froth)

The Rising Sons - Candy Man
(Same version as Van Ronk's, but with Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal, you get a completely different interpretation)

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory - The (Original) Candy Man
(Not SDJ's version--this is the one from the movie)

DJ Alligator Project - Suck on My Lollipop
(silly techno)

Brenda Lee - My Boy Lollipop
(This was probably recorded before The Spice Girls' parents were a twinkle in their parents' eyes...)

50 Cent - Candy Shop
(Just in case you haven't a clue as to why this set is connected with the linked thread, above, this last song should make it pretty explict. Woah!)

To Lava:

I have a request for you specifically, as you seem to have an interesting world music collection, but anybody can chime in. :) I'm looking for some good soukous (African) and bossanova songs. There's a lot out there, but I have no clue about what is good and what is not. If you have any of these in your collection, would you share a few?

Now where did easy-sharing.com go this fine morning? I have a song I feel compelled to share with the world. :/

Stirbird, I'm not certain if this is what you're looking for or not. This is more Latin than African.

Guajira Bonita ~ Julian Avalos and Afro-Andes

You may want to try the Putumayo label. They put together some pretty good collections of music from around the World. You can listen to brief bits of music on their website and get an idea of whether you like it or not. They have several African CDs including one called Afro-Latin Party that may be along the lines of what you want.

Thanks for the info. and the link, Kiddo. :) I'm going to DL the song tomorrow (weekend at last!) and listen to it. I'll tell you if it's like the Soukouss I heard.

In the meantime, here's a little ditty that had me snapping my fingers:

My Enormous Penis - Da Vinci's Notebook

Thanks again, Lava. That song is beautiful! Some very exotic (to me) instruments were used in it! You're right, it's Latin and not sukouss, but it's so nice, I don't care.

I'll share the one Soukouss song I've found that I really liked. It's African but it sounds like they might be singing in French? The songs in this genre vary from more traditional sounding to more modern sounding. This one is modern-ish:

Post Some Spookie Stuff!

I have a general request. How about posting some spooky halloween music?

I came across this one today, when going through my music "maybes" folder:

Bishop of Hexan - Spirtual Soul Sunset

I'm not sure what I think of it, but it made me want more spooky tunes. :)

If you'll post some, I'll post some more (which might be better than the above...or might not).

I'm happy to share (THE MUSIC) god damn pervs :D ;)

Have everthing from Metallica to Daft Punk. If you need it I can find it. Allways looking to trade new bands, currently into pop/dance stuff anything upbeat.

Have "older" stuff too, Police, Blind Melon, Fleetwood Mac, Heart.....you name it I have it. Just Pm me and let me know. :D

Please do. I want some new scary stuff for halloween listening.

Two more spookies from me:

The Cure - Lullabye

Voltaire - The Vampire Club

(I know, these two aren't that scary. :/ I'm working on it.)

And, just for fun, a complement to the charming acapella, "My Enormous Penis," posted earlier in this thread:

Butthole Surfers - Detatchable Penis

This song puts me to shame. The only detachable part I've ever had is my mouth. How unoriginal. :/
