We've never been to one, though we do know of the ones in our area... How many of you have been to munches, what was your first time like, and is it worth going?

I've never been to one, think F might have been to a couple before my time. He isn't a fan of them, and I'm not sure given my aversion to social gatherings it would be my cup of tea either, but it could be OK once in awhile just to meet others for friendship who share a similar lifestyle.

Never been to one either. Daddy and I have been considering it if he ever gets to stay home long enough for us to figure out when and where the local group/groups meet.

Thanks to a list of resources I found posted in one of the threads, I was able to contact a local group. I'm going to an informal and casual munch at a restaurant in the area next month. I've never been to one before or met anyone face to face yet. I'm nervous and excited about it. I can't remember which thread had the list but it was really helpful to me.

First thing that came to mind when I read your post Crystal was Furry Fury's thread First Munch Tips ? . She was so generous in sharing her foray into munches. There is a bit of well humored banter on the thread as in many but when it comes down to it a very memorable recount of her discovery . I had a quick scroll before I linked it to this post and as usual Geoff has come to the plate with his consistent good advice , not to mention many others. Best of luck , this was the quickest resource I could lay my hands on.

I have never attended a munch nor am ever likely to . Please don't consider that as a disparaging reference on my part as it's not. They have simply not at any stage of my life been something I have desired to seek out for a multitude of varying reasons . The premise intellectually stands to me that they would make a wonderful , non threatening base to familiarise oneself with a reasonable percentage of a local bdsm orientated community.

I dislike them intensely.

However I met my stud at the first one I ever went to.

I met M after being dragged to one by some friends who wanted to hand out fliers.

I've done very well by talking to other people who look out of place at them.

My husband and I have been to several and found that it just doesn't trip our trigger. Sure, the first one was kind of exciting because it was a new thing for us but it didn't meet our expectations. I can see how it might be fun but we never took it all as seriously as a lot of others did and thus, we found it was more entertaining than stimulating. People were very friendly and social but it just wasn't interesting enough to make it a habit.

PS: Very sexy AV and an even sexier site. My hubby would fall at your feet. :)

I like munches when I can get to them but that's rare. I like demos and play parties too because I get real practical knowledge at them of BDSM things I'd like to try but don't feel I know enough about. Again, I get to them all too rarely.

I wouldn't mind playing in public in some ways if I didn't have to take off my clothes.

Evil_Geoff's erotic knife play demo is really making me wish I could make it to that!!

I sort of wanted to try an electric chair one night but was afraid my husband would FREAK out. LOL! I wanted to for him because I knew if I did, he might and he loves electricity.

However that also included interrogation and I'm so NOT into that.

I'm not into exhibitionism or voyeurism but I do love to try things and learn about things.

My husband and I have been invited to a few locally, but havent gone as of yet. One of my co-workers is a sub and attends and uses them as a resource of meeting other people who share the lifestyle and of looking for clubs in the area as they seem to keep closing.

I attended my first last week. It was in a restaurant in town...just a bunch of people talking. Part, but certainly not all, of the conversation was around BDSM. I found it most useful about the various people into BDSM in the city as well as various activites of interest available in the local community. I'd go back, but can't see becoming heavily involved in them. Not anything against them...just who I am and how I practice BDSM.

I will say it was a different being asked if I was a top or a bottom. A very reasonable question, just felt weird being asked....almost like I thought they should be able to read my mind (although I know that's not realistic). The Dom liked my answer....the sub I was talking to, didn't.

I went to my first one over a year ago...
I was severly over dressed...(no one warned me it was casual)
everyone took it in stride tho & I attend as many as I can.
our munches cover the whole province of Nova Scotia & even overlap into PEI & New Brunswick attendees...
Our group has 3 each month... one is "open" for new people to attend.
at the "open" munch there is NO fetish wear allowed,,, not even collars.
our "closed" munches are in a different local so collars & light leathers are ok:)
We also have had "fetish nights" at a local bar but it has closed it's doors so we have moved it to a playspace a member of the group rents & has modified into a kind of dungeon.

Personally I enjoy the munches as it gets us together as some of us need a reason to get out & socialize :)
