Hi i noticed taht this site is set up for mostly one shot stories. Howvere my story is a serial and goes on for several chapters but it seems like i cannot post the chapters together on one story, and must submit them seperatly. Can i put them together at all?

Hi, if your story is already in chapters why not submit them under the Novels and Novellas category? Unfortunately that category doesn't get lots of attention sad to say.

I think the best way to get an answer is to ask the question over in the Author's Hangout and/or PM Laurel, she is one of the site owners and handles the story section.

You're welcome, just remember the traffic is lower in that section.

This site isn't set up to submit your story in any particular style if it's a chapter story. Just, most people submit chapter at a time because they don't finish the story before they start submitting. It also ups ratings, and might make it more simple for people to read.

I don't recommend the novels category because, like mentioned above, it doesn't get much traffic. Cross themed stories (bdsm/homosexual, for instance) are difficult because you have to choose which category they go into.

Some people split the chapters up and put them each in the category they go best in.

I suggest finding the category your theme is in, and submitting the whole novella/novel that way. if you post it, people will read.

In testing the site when they went to the current script based submission process, I successfully submitted a four megabyte text file as a single submission; I never did find the upper limit for a single story.

All of your submissions are listed on your author's page and every story links back to that page.

If you choose identifying names for each volume of the series that make the proper reading order clear , you're ahead of many published authors who can't even come up with a name for the series, let alone make the proper sequence clear. (I just read the blurb on the latest release in Lois M Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan series, another "omnibus" volume with reprints of three previous releases :( :( where she notes that her fans have dubbed the series "the Vorkosiverse" because she never bothered to name the series.)

The point is that Lit treats each submission the same way print houses/libraries treat mutli-volume series, each submission is a separate "book," linked to other "books" in the series only by being filed author's name first.

ah, okay. yaeh i jsut want a multiple chapter story. i will probably just post them all seperately, and hope people keep along for the ride. thanks for the advice!

If you already have the chapters ready, or at least named, you can put something like:

If you enjoyed this story, "Debbie Does Detroit: Chapter 02" can be found by clicking on my name, Jedikool, then the Submissions tab.

What is considered a lot of traffic? A story (snapshots) I submitted to Novels/Novellas two months ago has nearly 10,000 views. I'm just awestruck that many people would even check it out, even if some back-clicked.

I've gotten my share of traffic on other stuff I've put in that category too.

I don't disagree on using the other categories though. If your story fits there, then go for it. If you want pure traffic, go for incest or loving wives I guess.

It's just my opinion but it seems like people who read in the N/N category are more interested in a serious story rather than a quick read. If you've written a novel, why not say so and post it there?

I just hate it when someone posts four chapters of a six chapter story and never finishes it. Especially when it's good.
