MP3 player :Help

I was recently given an MP3 player from a friend.

Though it was a nice gift, I do not think they realized that I am not very tech savy.

While I found out how to turn it on , now I am wondering how to transfer music into it. I read the little booklet it came with but it does not provide me with much help.

I have itunes so I have been downloading music.

This is what the instructions say :

Your player can play music files stored in MP3, WMA, secure WMA and Audible audio file formats.

Now what I am wondering is -- Are my itunes already converted into these sort of files or do I have to do some thing to convert them?


I will continue reading the instructions but I have a feeling all this tech stuff is going to elude me.

Well, Liscious, I would hate to state the obvious, but did you plug the player into your PC or laptop? You did not say which player you have, but the instructions should have a diagram and explanation of how to use the cable, USB I am guessing, to connect the player to the USB outlet of your computer. If you are using an Apple OS system, and an iPod, the player will automatically start up iTunes, and download/update the songs into the player. If you have a different player, you will have to manually choose the songs and download them into the player. I don't know which player or operating system you have, so I can only say manually highlight the songs you want, right click with the mouse on the chosen files, and a popup menu should appear, one of the options being load to player, or some sort of verbiage to that meaning.

Sorry, I don't use iTunes, but I do know how to transfer music to your mp3 player using windows media player. Simply locate a song in the library that you want to transfer, right click on it, go down to add on the menu and then select sync list. Repeat this process until you have selected all the music you want and then click on start sync in the lower right hand corner. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Simply locate a song in the library that you want to transfer, right click on it, go down to add on the menu and then select sync list. I am right clicking away and some how nothing is going on .... but thanks for the help...

Plug it in, and it will show up as a standard removable hard drive. Personally I would just copy the audio files to it and screw any media software. I can manage my own music.

All the help I can offer is that, if you have been downloading music from sources OTHER than iTunes, they are likely in mp3 format. If you've been downloading 'em all from iTunes, they are probably saved in that format that iTunes and iPod's use, and I can't for the life of me recall what it's called. And I have a Pod, too!

Is your mp3 player an iPod? Or something else? Knowing what kind you're working with can help.

If it's a Pod, what kind? Nano? Shuffle? Mini? Regular ol' Pod?

Thank you for the replies, ladies.

I have decided that I will not be bothering with this anymore.

As I infromed some one the MP3 player at the moment is in a shot glass.

I have tried various sites and even went to their "Help" website and it was of no help to me.

I will be calling one of my tech' friends and letting them take a go at it.

It is best I walk away from it , or that shot glass will be filled with some Herencia de Plata Tequila.

Patience is not a virtue I have.
