That link's a joke.

First, it doesn't actually show anything, it's nothing more than an opinion piece wrapped up in what appears to be false legitimacy because of how it's labeled.



Second, notice in the link where they say that "no one gun control law will stop gun violence"? They're right but don't go far enough. So far, EVERY gun control law enacted has failed to control gun violence. In fact, even gun bans don't stop gun violence.

Click the linky, there's a graph right there so you don't even have to read. Look at the indicator of when the ban was enacted and then look at the gun violence spike that followed. That is what we call "evidence" that dribble is flat out wrong. Not that he's going to acknowledge it in any way because if he does his argument falls completely apart.



Third: Jim Crow. Yep, the same Jim Crow that's being tossed around lately about voting laws had some really tough prohibitions against blacks owing, possessing, or using guns. You know what? It didn't work. Lots of blacks were convicted of firearms possession during the time they weren't allowed to possess them. How did that happen? It was "illegal" for them to have a gun so they shouldn't have been able to get one.

Which tells you that if there's a will, there's a way and written words in some book someplace won't stop anyone. Which also tells you that, those written words to the contrary, gun bans won't stop gun violence.

"But, but, but... it'll slow it down!!!" is probably the next bit of bullshit that's going to crop up on this topic. It's bullshit. Those who make a living out of analyzing the data will tell you that "mass shooting" is a very flexible term and that most of the reporting sites manipulate the data to fit their own definition of the term. The FBI is the first org to use the term and by their definition, there are only something like 150 deaths per year due to "mass shootings" once the "non qualifying" events are filtered out. Approximately 150 deaths per year. That's pretty "slow" already.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, DC, Baltimore, NYC, etc etc etc, "gun violence" continues unabated by people who are ALREADY PROHIBITED from owning a gun. Facts that are ignored and then rejected because it destroys the narrative by those pushing something that won't work, has been shown to never work, and will do nothing to solve the problem except to punish the innocent who are now being labeled as "fascists" and "terrorists" as a weapon use to intimidate them.
