I was looking at the new-look lists of the top-ranked stories on Literotica, and something caught my attention. I ran a few numbers, and this is what I found-- of the top 10 stories, 5 were in the incest category. Of the top 15, 8 were about incest. 18 of the top 50. 42 of the top 100.

I found this rather interesting, though I'm not sure why. I've written two stories about aunt-nephew incest, and I nominated an incestuous tale as Story of the Year (Built for One Thing), so I'm certainly not here to cast aspersions. But I'm surprised that stories about incest are the most popular.

Or maybe I shouldn't be. Incest is the ultimate taboo, so people would want to read about this forbidden topic. Folks may be reassured that they aren't the only ones who maybe had a thing for someone they shouldn't have been thing-having.

And while I would think that most people who read these stories have had sex, and that some have had group sex, and that others have had lesbian encounters or indulged in S&M or, perhaps, had sex with aliens, very few have actually committed incest. Perhaps that explains it.

So, anyone else out there have any insight? Comments? Nude pictures of Chelsea Clinton?

Well, it's certainly taboo, and for the most part it's kept quiet. It's a secret fantasy, one that I bet a lot of people would NEVER share, not even with their partner. I've written my share of incest tales, and no matter how long they've been on this site, they're the ones I get feedback on. I consider myself and others lucky that Literotica allows these stories, some story sites won't post incest fantasies.

It isn't that I think many people are unwilling to discuss the topic, as I think it was most just didn't have anything to add to your comments.

I think there is a "taboo" element to the enjoyment of an incest story, but, for the most part, I think it is also about passion...about being so passionate for something that you want it no matter the consequences. And...since nothing is more sexually "forbidden" than a family member, the naughtiness and passion degees have the potential to be much higher.

When we are children, for the most part, our parents (and most grown-up family members for that matter) are myterious beings with all this power over us. As we get older, we appreciate them for their humanity. We see them as people. And, just maybe we seek to exert a little power of our own, by fantasizing that we could make them want us in the most forbidden way possible.

In my personal fantasies and stories, a "father figure" is never my own father. That is to say, in my fantasy/story he is my "father" (uncle, stepfather, whatever)but he doesn't ever really look or act like my own Dad. I like the forbidden passion of the RELATIONSHIP, but I'm not personally attracted to my own father. I'm sure for some women they are attracted to their own fathers, and I don't see anything wrong with that (hell, doesn't Harrison Ford have a daughter? Talk about father idolitry...LOL), I am just not one of them.

I think it is a popular category for all these reasons, but also because of the emotions that would be inherant in such situations. Most people can identify with wanting to be closer to their parents...or with being so close that sometimes the lines get blurred...or with being uncomfortable and dominated by them. Because our families are so much a part of our lives, at some point or another we pretty much go through the whole spectrum of emotions toward them.

I have noticed that as well.

However don't be too quick to assume that globally, incest stories are the most favoured among readers.

It could simply be that Literotica has a large number of readers who enjoy reading incest stories above any other story. And, that people who like reading good incest stories know that this is the site to find them. Do you know what I mean?

I have written a number of incest stories. Mine are all fictional except for a true one that a friend told me of her ongoing relationship with her Mother. I even talked to her Mom after it was written, but before it was posted to get her feelings on it. After that was posted, I talked to several other women who had incestuous relationships with their Mothers, and some with their children.

It does happen. Not eveyone confesses to it. With their telling me, they are talking to someone they don't know well, who built up their trust, and who won't use their real names. They always have the last word on any story I post about them. Always.

I think all of us have either outright incestuous feelings, or latent ones. Stories here allow us to read them, and vicariously experience that feeling with no guilt.

Hey, it's a story someone ELSE wrote. We might never think that WE ourselves might DO 'that'. Just a 'story', but we get off on it!

Incest is best

I have 4 stories on literotica now, only one has an incest theme and it has been voted for by almost 120 people, more than twice as many as the other 3 put together.

I too noticed the bias towards incest stories and tend to agree with your hypothosis of it being the ultimate taboo. What does disturb me however, is that I've had several feebacks from people that claim to have been abused, or to be abusers of minors. Has anyone else had this?

That depends on your definition of abuse. By definition, any incest between minors and adults is usually termed abuse. In two of the women I talked to, both were introduced to incest by their mothers at age 13 and 16. That fits the term of abuse. Neither spoke of it as "abuse".

One of the women said she was introduced [not forced] to incest by both her mother and father at age 13. She was now having sexual relationships with her 14 year old son and 16 year old daughter. All, according to her, by mutual loving consent. Her husband, and her father, had sexual relationships with her, and her daughter for Fathers Day! She, and both her children, also have sexual relationships with her sister.

The other lady - see "My Very Loving Mother" was seduced by her mother at age 15 (changed for the story.) I talked to both her, and her divorced mother, and they were still having an ongoing sexual relationship. She is now 23, her mother 43.

A clincher for this post as far as I'm concerned.

OK, just checked the Incest story board. I posted an incest story 1/28, it's now 1/29. How many people would you think have read it in two days?

The title was "Mommie's Wonderful Welcome". Does the word "Mommie's" jump out at an incest reader. Obviously!

Ready for this? - This was a real shocker for me! - 116 votes in two days! Think it would have gotten that many votes if it had been just plain "Wonderful Welcome"? I don't hardly think so.

So incest seems to really draw the readers eye!

Yeah I had the same Tawny, Naughty Boy's Momma got about the same number of votes in a couple of days... seems to calm down after that though.
