Good morning board. Sunny, crisp, mid-forties - a find day here in Manhattan. Feeling about a 5.
Why? Today is the year anniversary of a huge, family-life event, relative to the history of the Sparky Kronkite family. A year ago today, after nearly 6 months of what appeared to be a normal pregnancy - my wife/we were found to be carrying twins. Twins!?! Yes! After 6 months. And that's not all………. These twins, our twins, were suffering from Mono-zygotic, Twin to Twin Transference Syndrome - where inexplicably one twin "basically, gives it up" to the other. In this case - two identical boys - one much smaller than the other. Both in peril. Usually the big one doesn't make it. The small one somehow being the tougher of the two. To add to this they told us that there was a possibility that the larger baby had water on the brain.
Geesh!
This to say the least this was not an easy time for my wife and I - not to mention our families. We had to consider abortion as an option - and very soon after we discovered this.
But all was not hopeless - these two guys, after a huge amount of testing - appeared to be fairly healthy. Eventually we believed that both would make it and be normal and healthy.
But in late February of last year - the little one passed. It was hell - we had to get the big guy out of there right away. So we were blessed with a very healthy 3.5lb son - his name is AJ, he's 8 months old now and weighs 23 very heavy pounds. He is, no kidding - the smilingest baby I or most anyone else has ever seen. He was belly laughing when he was just a couple of months old. His brother, he will never be able to grow up with - is off to a better place.
Anyway - it's really hard on my wife - in late February I expect it will even become more difficult
Just though I'd share - I'm fine.
And thank God too - ya know I admired Steve Allen but that fucking bad toupee' - we won't have to witness that damn thing ever again. Something nasty about super fake dentures and a bad toupee' - may they all rest in peace.
You guys have a very nice day.
