I don't know what happened to that thread, but I was thinking about it and despite what I posted before, here is some food for thought...

Better to be in love with someone far away who loves you back, than someone nearby who doesn't.

Tell me that again in four months.

Well, it's BEEN 4 months since I last saw Hubby, and yes, I agree with sweet. My friends are trying to nudge me to make a move on my cute coworker, but I prefer sitting home alone and wait for Hubby's return than to have a little fun with Mr Wrong.

Totally true. Love travels. Not-love doesn't even call.

1800 miles seems to have made things between us even stronger
17 days and the miles will become inches.

vella, considering that "limbo" is a dance where you compete on how far you can bend backwards, and how low you can go, shouldn't you change your Location line to "17 days 'TIL limbo"..? ;)

The problem with loving someone far away who loves you back is that you can't be really sure that the far away person loves you back until they get nearby. Surprises are not always fun.

I'm involved in a serious relationship that happened to begin in another country.
It has been a slow torture getting all the details and paperwork and countless etceteras.
And the waiting.
It's at the last stage now. Waiting for the final Yes or No.
Waiting
More waiting.
Almost one year.
Should be soon.
But soon is not now.
Of all coincidences I was just now contemplated starting a thread similar to this.
Thanks, sweetnpetite.
I hope to be able to visit this thread with happier news sometime soon.

Surprises are not always fun I agree - but sometimes they ARE!! I have had a long distance relationship and it was the most the most intense and the most fun beginning to a relationship I have ever had - we are now together and all is well!!

I think long-distance tests things. When phoning in and faking are not choices and when actually waiting for pleasure is a neccessity, the bonds of love are separated from those of blind lust. In my opinion a long-distance relationship separates the lies from the truths for IMO the better.

And besides, modern electronics has helped greatly in stabilizing long-distance relationships.

I'd just like to say again that I have a huge amount of respect for Svenska. We may make jokes when Hubby's due about whether she'll leave him alive afterwards, but this woman has dedication and will enough to make an inter-continental marriage work. I struggle and whinge about staying away from chocolate for 7 weeks, yet she goes months without seeing the man she loves.

I don't understand how you can do it, but I know that you are a remarkable person for even trying and someone really special for succeeding.

Simple and true. This "Internet" thing has a lot to do with it. Our neighborhood is a network neighborhood. The downside is that we stop making an effort to get to know the Girl down the hall when the Girl down the wire seems to be so much more in tune with us.

We say "Somewhere Out There is The One for Me. And we now have the technology to go looking for her.
