I feel the #MeToo movement is a conspiracy, but I can't figure out the end game

The "conspiracy" is to stop people from thinking they can put their hands on those that don't want their hands on them. To further the concept of consent. To stop 9 year olds from being raped. To keep 15 year olds out of the hands of those who are predators. To keep people from feeling marginalized and like they have to do sexual or demeaning things in the workplace or their professional field in order to maintain the status they've worked for and earned on their merits not their tit size. To keep roofies out of bar drinks at parties, to keep genitalia out of the mouths of unconscious college girls. To make it safe for a mom to walk to her car leaving the mall after dark. To further the idea that just because someone sleeps with you on Wednesday doesn't mean they have to on Saturday.
I know. Not fun stuff, especially on a board of fantasies.

Sorry. I don't rant much, but I don't have a single female friend who hasn't been raped or assaulted. Not 1. Think about that for a minute. This isn't about taking away the fun.. it's about making sure everyone is on the same page for fun because some things, while maybe making great fantasies, also destroy lives when they are actioned upon people who don't share the fantasy.

And I totally agree with every thing you said. And this applies to 99.9% of the normal people in the world. BUT (and this is where I will lose a lot of people), when a celebrity tells me that they had to sleep with director/ producer/ agent X to get a part in a movie, then walked away with a 7 figure paycheck, I call bullshit. That and the fact that some of them keep this secret for years, sometimes decades.

I just feel that a good movement, to bring to light harassment of both sexes, has somehow gotten hijacked and become a crusade by the Hollywood elite, and I want to know why.

Because when I tell you that my first boss when I was 15 used to constantly ask if I "was still jailbait" while looking down my shirt it wouldn't sell ad copy and no one would care and be talking about it at all. And them talking about it has made a difference.

I see valid points for both sides of the argument.

BUT.

No Means no, It doesnt mean, blackmail me with my job.
If they cant say yes, it means no.

Here in the Uk we have just had Operation Yewtree.
Celebrities have been tried for sex based crimes going back Decades.
Some have gone to prison for this.

Some of the arguments have been, its over 50 years ago, why does it matter now.
Well because the victims have suffered for 50 years.
Another was, But it was normal to touch girls like that then. Two wrongs dont make a right.

I understand the Why wait until now argument.
Because sometimes it takes one to start the ball rolling then the others think, I can be as strong as her.

Bravo, Tink! Perfectly said!

The point is, how many people walked away WITHOUT that 7 figure paycheck when they were actually the best person for the job, but refused to grant those sexual favors? And that trickles down to, how many walked away without a 4 or 5 figure paycheck they desperately needed because they refused to give sexual favors or protested sexual harassment on the job? I know, many people have taken advantage of that option, sleeping with someone to gain the advantage, but that should never have been an option in the first place.

All good points. Here are the questions that remain for me:

How many women who were abused by not-famous men or women still have no voice in this discussion?

How many men and women with awkward dating techniques are having their lives ruined by accusations that do not rise to the level of abuse, and may not even be true?

How eroded do the real stories of rape and sexual harassment become because everyone who disliked someone's come-on lines decide it's their moment to vent with #MeToo?

Will there be a positive/progressive outcome to this movement, or will it drown in its own success?

How sincere are we to change the way sex/power/money work in modern (American/Western) culture?

Why is a man/person/bot who is accused and most likely guilty of multiple sexual abuse allegations, and mindnumbingly bad positions on nearly every contemporary social issue still President of the USA???

Have you never heard of "The Casting Couch"? I mean producers/directors pressuring talent into sexual relationships is not a new thing...it dates back to the beginnings of Hollywood.

Yesterday, I received the best hoodie I've ever had

Dark grey with some kind of cool pattern. It's made out of some nice feeling material as well :)

I wonder if it's considered animal abuse to hang an air freshener from the base of a dogs tail? Geesh *wipes tears from eyes*

Aren’t all photos of animals nudes
Except when demented humans dress them in humiliating costumes and accessories. But I approach subjects in a portrait photographer mindset, portraying their essential character. People, animals, structures, rocks, plants, each has a character to be portrayed. Sometimes nudes, or shadows, or obscured, or fragmented. Beware fragmented nude animals.
