Arguing with a cat is like arguing with a spouse......you may have won a small victory,but you pay for it more later.
 
I am always amazed to hear there are people that eat Domino's Pizza.
 
I hate when I'm in the mood to get funky, but I'm not getting the emotional connection I need in order to engage.
 
My 4 year old is flipping through a toy catalog. He is pointing to every picture and saying, "I want that for Christmas!" So stinkin cute!!!!

Remember when we used to do that? For me, it was the big Spiegel's catalog. *sigh* Happy times!

"the Spiegel catalog" Haven't heard that in years. I remember watching game shows as a kid like 'Let's Make A Deal' and they always gave credit to the Spiegel catalog for prizes or wardrobe . . . .

For us it was the Sears Wish Book. We’d pour over the toy section and circle the things we wanted Santa to bring. Literally thought that it was a direct link to the North Pole.
 
We also had the Service Merchandise catalog. It was awesome but not near as cool as the store. You picked out what You wanted from a display and then could watch it come down a conveyor belt
 
You guys got me to thinking. We had Consumers Distributing. CD for short.

We could "shop from the catalogues (that were chained to the counter), fill out a form listing the items we wanted, and wait for stock runner to find the items in the backroom/warehouse.
 
Sears, JC Penney, Montgomery Wards...my sister and I would fight over them.

My aunt worked at a smaller retail chain in Kansas City called Dohlgin's (?). I remember Christmas of '77 going with my dad to see if we could find Star Wars figures. You didn't actually get the figures then; you got a certificate, and redeemed it for figures after Christmas.
 
Does Kay Bees Toy store still exist?

As far as I know, they went bankrupt in the early 2000s. They were then bought up by a conglomerate that had many low-end discount retail chains, and the remaining merchandise was sold that way. But then, I believe, that parent company also went bankrupt.

Yeppers Beastie is correct. I was still working as Xbox when it happened.
And if I remember Toys R Us was bought by some French company before I got hurt & became gimpi girl ... somewhere around mid 2000s
