More plagerism of literotica.com (imitation is the best form of flattery)...

I don't know if this is where I should post sites that are copying stories from literotica.com, but if anyone has a better idea, let me know...

I found another site:

http://stories.askjolene.com/?qr=au...k&sort=rel&cc=1276582480&hm=0&groupmax=0&qt=1

Is there anything I can or should do?

AskJolene is not like most of the pirates and plagiarists. If you click on a story there, it will take you to Literotica. At least most of them do. There were dozens of my stories that did not have such a link, and they took them down when I pointed them out.

Nope all mine go right to Lit pages. Ask Jolene is just...usually...a listing of stories on Lit.

yes, I've found the same - no lifting, just linking. And a few people have told me that they actually discovered us here on Lit through askJolene. I won't complain.

Thanks for the distinction. I am glad the site links to literotica.com. And I'm glad that they identify me as the author. I'll have to check to see my stories are linked.

It was a strange thing. I found dozens of stories claiming to be by Boxlicker101, and most of them were, but there were some I had not written. Apparently, there is another author who uses the same handle as I do, and he evidently plagiarized many of my stories. I think I will go and see if he or she has stolen any more. :(

I PM'd Laurel last night, she's passing it on to Manu. So they're aware and looking into it.

They still have a few of mine ( well, badly formatted page 1s ) on their servers.

Lots of stuff does redirect to Lit -- probably even most of it -- but they do hork a few things here and there as well.

They leave my author's notes intact on the ones they've posted ( under my name and someone else's )

If found posted anywhere except Literotica.com with this note attached, this story is posted without my permission. Darkniciad 2000-2007

So whoever is running the place isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer

They have a good search function. A search of my name found every story on Lit and every story where I was credited as editor.

I complained to Lit about a site reported to me by a reader that was publishing my stories verbatim under a different author's name. They said there was little they could do but I should contact the website and ask them to remove the stories and, if they didn't, to get back to them. I did contact the website with no effect but didn't pass that on to Lit. After all, if they confess up front there's little they can do, why bother? I guess other sites will get the benefit of Lit's and their writers' efforts for nothing.

Do you have a link to the site? Did you send the owners of the server a DMCA request (or whatever its called) to remove copyrighted material from their servers?

Ask Jolene is actually helpful in finding other sites posting your stories w/o permission. You can just go down your page and the ones that don't link right to Lit are stolen.

Yes, I sent the link to Laurel and followed her advice about asking them to remove the story, twice, several days apart after the first time didn't work. I didn't bother updating Laurel given her pm to me stated that there was little that Lit could do. I'm not willing to make this a big part of my life. Shit happens.

Could you post the link here so others may look to see if their stories have been post there.

Actually, that's a healthy attitude. If you are giving the story away for free on the Internet to begin with, there's little utility expending a lot of time and effort to try to control where it's posted on the wild and woolly world of the Internet.

They have a few of my stories up there and also, interestingly enough, several I didn't write, listed under my name. Some of them seem to link back here.

I didn't find any of mine, but I didn't look very hard. There are a lot of stories, and it would be hard to find any individual one.

They do have a search option but it doesn't appear to search the text of the story, just the keywords assigned to the story or the author name or story title.

A google search of some key sentences of mine only bring up those at Lit. Of course I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.
