New from Mattel and clearly trying to cash in on the on-going "Twilight" popularity of monsters (that or they're just getting a jump on Halloween):

They are (from left to right):

Clawdeen Wolf
Lagoona Blue
Cleo de Nile
Duce Gorgon (the only boy)
Frankie Stein
Draculaura

So? Whadda think? Work of genius that is going to take off like gangbusters or flop and be forgotten? They have wisely given girls a choice of types so they can pick their favorite, not to mention hip and stylish clothing. Know of any little girls who might want one of these for birthday or Christmas...or Halloween? Age range is 6-8.

It's not better or worse than any other toy trying to cash in on anything. I see no positives or negatives to this.

Target age 6-8? Perfect, they'll be anorexic by 13.
Oh, you noticed that, did you? Yeah, they do look a bit on the skinny side. I'm surprised they didn't have a Skelly Skeleton in there, but I guess that would have been too obvious.

And pigeon-toed. In that "I'm an innocent little girl" manner that all the strippers use.

Indeed, they could almost be characters in a Tim Burton movie.

Almost? You don't have to be polite. A few of them are flat out rip-offs ;) But that's okay by me. I don't expect most big name toy manufacturers to be original.

Okay, next time I'll start out, "Bastards!..."
And follow up with "Dirty, stinking bastards! Oh, what has the world come to...." followed by much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

If there were any six to eight year old girls in this den there would be no monster high dolls. End of discussion.

I think the Cabbage Patch dolls have Morphed. . .

I like how Miss Piggy turned out. Kermit would be delighted.

I'm not quite sure that at that age range it is aimed at Twilight fans who tend to be a bit older.

It seems to me to be more an extension of cartoons aimed at the younger set, like Casper's scare school, Scobby Doo movies where school-age monsters are featured, and even the aforementioned Tim Burton's "nightmare before christmas" and other movies.

I think Mattel Inc. has come up with something that steals from enough different sources that it can't be said to have stolen anything from anyone. :p

I have doubts that Duce Gorgon is a boy. In high school there ought to be at least some indication of a beard. I think she's a dyke, and a really stereotyped one at that. Pathetic.

Actually, I thought the same thing when I saw that doll. Even the name. I thought, "How enlightened. A dyke!"

I was rather disappointed to learn it was a guy. Then, of course, I thought "This guy is gay...."

But then, I'm not the age range here. Maybe he's meant to look like some kinda Jonas Brother boy rather than, er, a real boy--gay, straight or otherwise ;)

A few inches, given those heels. All except Duce there, who relies on his serpent...er...mohawk to give him that extra bit of high.

LOL.. that just absolutely cracked me up. :)
I love it!

I don't like Bratz dolls.
I played with Barbie's. They were so much more wholesome.
(Even if her measurements would be physically impossible for a real person. :p Besides the fact I was a teenager when Bratz came out..)
There were teachers, and vets, and safari explorers...
Not to mention the Ferrari's, Mansions, cruise ships..
Wait, Barbie gave me a complex.. where the hell did they put my dream house???
Someone must have stolen my pink Ferrari!
And my ship.. my beautiful cruise ship...

Wow. The high expectations that Barbie gave me was a child..
..the real life of the adult world just can't live up to. :p

:nana:

I'm really tired of girl's dolls that look like street walkers... When I volunteered at an after school program for girls in my home town, we specifically banned all bratz toys. Barbie we let slide because she was at least SUPPOSED to be a grown woman not a teenager...
