Modern Medication.

Well now. After 4 weeks of feeling like crap and not being able to sit here at the computer for very long things have changed.

Saw a new doctor yesterday who has put me on some wonderful new medication. It is a patch. Your wear it for three days and it controlls your pain. Amazing so far. With the pills I was taking I would get ups and downs as they wore off or took effect. Doesn't happen with the patch.

So I can sit her are read everyone's thoughts and not feel like I am sitting on sharp rocks. Hell I could do this all day!

Another effect of the patch is the pain is still there, I can feel it. BUT I DON'T GIVE A SHIT. Great stuff. Euphoria is a side effect. I have to be careful that I don't do something I shouldn't do because I don't feel the pain right, but other than that, hey.

I never heard of this patch before, has anyone else?

So, let me go read some more posts. I have been waiting a month to do this.

So I looked through the first 15 pages. Nothing really struck my fansy.

While reading the neighbor across the street kept getting my attention. He is using a leaf blower to blow his lawn. He has a good sized lawn. I just can't help but think about raking leaves when I was a kid. Always got blisters in the webbing between my thumb and index finger. Raked up piles, then took the piles away.

Hell in thirty minuets he is almost finished. It would have taken me a few days to do.

This in turn got me to thinking about other things they didn't have back when I was a kid. Like microwave ovens. Remote control for your TV. Cable TV. Computers.

I am not sure that I would have wanted these things when I was a kid. I made money raking leaves, mowing grass. I played outside because there really wasn't much to do inside. I was my dad's remote control for the TV.

God I love this medication.

Yep I've heard of those patches before...I believe they are called duragesic patches. Here's an article I found about them if anyone cares to read it.

They work like nicoderm or nitro patches do. Same idea. A slow steady release of med so that you don't have ups and downs. They use them a lot for chronic pain and for people with end stage cancer.

Yep thats the stuff. I put it on yesterday, and it really didn't seem to help much. Today though I feel great. Wonder how I will feel tomorrow? Thanks for the link!

You'll feel about the same I think. You may find it wearing off a little bit but not as much as oral meds. I don't know what dose you're on but if you find it wearing off a lot the Doctor can give you a bigger dose.

40 minutes for 15 pages? That was a little faster than "looking through" pace, I think.

Maybe that patch has you a bit higher than you think.

The patch you are referring to is the Duragesic patch. It contains the pain killer Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a narcotic which is roughly 10X stonger than morphine. This is top shelf stuff. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Maybe, but I tend to read very quickly. Plus I got that magic teacher scan thing. We can tell right away if something is crap, or if it is worth reading all the way through.

Damn straight, this is some good shit man. You could hit me with a brick...

I still couldn't sleep in bed last night, something about weight distribution that causes pain even through the patch. So I slept in my chair, big deal. Only draw back is no snuggles from the wife, and all the cats want to sleep in my lap.
