It's a pet peeve of mine when a cell phone goes off during a class. Does this bother you too? or does it just show my age?

You're not alone in this. It irritates the hell outta me. Although I must admit to forgetting to turn mine off and having it ring during the middle of a micro lecture....I was not proud.

I had a cell phone in college and when I was in class it was off. After class, my voicemail got checked.

If it was an emergency, and my phone was off whoever it was could call the school and get me out of class.

Anyway....People aren't perfect. They forget to turn it off - no big deal to me unless they're rude enough to actually answer it and then have a conversation.

No, but the next time I hear a cellphone go off in church, I'm going to beat the owner with it.

Really. How kind and understanding of you - especially while in Church.

The semester just started and the students were reminded to turn their phones off.

2 phones rang during the first lecture.

That was you?

I didn't think you could go to church. I figured there'd be a huge bolt of lightning and the crucifix would fall off the wall if you walked in.

Was it God calling? Appoligizing for not being able to log into Lit last week and asnwer one of your threads.

Ringing = Farting...

It disturbs the flow of the class, what really gets to me is when the receiver answers it, and talks while the teacher is demonstrating a concept. It's not age, it's proper consideration for others. :D

It probably was. He does like to check up on me here from time to time.

I don't think he has me on ignore.

Tell them that if a phone rings during class, you'll assume it's for you, since you're the only one in the class important enough to be contacted during your class. Therefore, you'll answer all calls during class.

I'm serious. That usually does the trick. But if a phone does go off, you must of course answer it. ;)

They never go off a second time.

I seriously thought of that, but the lecture hall is too big.

I'm thinking Super-Soaker. Perfect for this time of year!

In hate cell phones, wish I didn't have to have one. I leave mine off all the time but check voice mail. What I really hate is these high school guys that work for me sometimes are always on the damn things talking to their girlfriends. I am gonna start docking their asses. And I don't mean that in a nice way.
