“I Mitch McConnell do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

This is the oath of office that Mitch McConnel took when he became a senator of the United States of America, however McConnell acts more like a criminal than a United States Senator.

According to the United States Constitution the United States Senate is supposed to engage in a partnership with the President of the United States and advise the president on all judicial appointees, hold public hearings and then hold a vote in the United States Senate to vote the president’s nominees up or down.

Mitch McConnell doesn’t really give a damn about the U.S. Constitution, and when Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died, McConnell refused to allow President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court to ever come up for a vote.

Despite the fact that this was a violation of McConnell’s oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, McConnell claimed that "One of my proudest moments was when I told Obama, 'You will not fill this Supreme Court vacancy,'" and he refused to allow Merrick Garland (Obama’s nominee) to ever have a hearing or be brought up for a vote.

This was an utterly illegal and unconstitutional act on Mitch McConnel’s part, but wait, it gets even worse.

When it was learned that one of America’s foreign enemies had hacked the computers of American citizens and was attempting to rig the 2016 national election in Donald Trump’s favor, key lawmakers (including Mitch McConnell ) were invited to the White House to ask for a bipartisan condemnation of Russia’s meddling.

This should have been an easy request for Mitch McConnell to accede to. After all he had sworn an oath to defend the United States Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. However, Mitch McConnell refused to condemn Russia’s meddling, and threatened to accuse President Obama of meddling in the election if he made the intelligence about the Russian interference public.

A patriotic American (whether they took an oath or not) would have put America’s national security above partisan politics, however, Mitch McConnell sided with the Russians and Donald Trump rather than side with the United States of America. So why would Mitch McConnell do something so extraordinarily un-American?

The answer may have a lot to do with an associate of Vladimir Putin who has given a great deal of money to Mitch McConnell.

McConnell accepted $2.5 Million from a Ukrainian-born oligarch who is the business partner of two of Russian president Vladimir Putin's favorite oligarchs and a Russian government bank.

During the 2015-2016 election season, Ukrainian-born billionaire Leonard "Len" Blavatnik contributed $2.5 million to Mitch McConnell’s Senate Leadership Fund.

So, McConnell is a dishonorable man who violates his oath of office, refuses to do his job, dishonors the U.S. Constitution and takes millions of dollars from shady, untrustworthy people.

And when he’s told that his country is under attack, does he take a stand for his country and immediately take strong actions to defend the United States of America?

NO! He takes a strong stand to defend the hostile nation that attacked us!

So, while Mitch McConnell has no loyalty to the United States of America, he DOES have millions of dollars that he received from his shady friends overseas.

As Donald Trump continues to weaken the NATO alliance, hurt America’s reputation overseas and give Vladimir Putin everything that he wants, perhaps those millions of dollars will help Mitch McConnell sleep at night.

He's a consummate political creature. A master at playing the partisan game.

He's loyal to the USA, but it's just pretty fucking low on the list of his loyalties, Right behind serving the biggest donors of his campaign by enacting legislation that serves their interests, then the interests of the Republican party-which coincidentally goes along with serving all their biggest donors by enacting legislation that serves their interests, and screwing it to the other team (the democrats) competing to enact legislation for their donors interests.

It's all a game to a guy like him, and he sees himself as a master player at that game.

And if any of that helps the people that voted for him, or just the American public in general-its frosting on the cake.

Of course he'd argue like any professional politician would that by serving the interests of his donors he is serving the interests of the American people and thus being loyal to the USA, but he's wrong. It would all be a self-serving lie to rationalize how corrupt he and all politicians that rely on corporate donations, super-pacs, dark money, and special expenditures are.

I'm afraid that considering how unfit and damaging to the country that Trump is--and that McConnell certainly can see, his failure to hold up the legislative end of the balance of powers means he is NOT loyal to the USA in any shape or form.

I didn't say he wasn't dangerous to the well-being of democracy in the USA. I just said in his own mind he's loyal...and he can game the system while being loyal.

Well, in Donald Trump's mind, he's the greatest gift that's ever been given to the world. That doesn't make what either McConnell or Trump choose to believe anything close to the truth. They both, frankly, are engaging in totally self-serving subversion and treason against the United States.

Tip O'Neill said, "All politics are local," and any surviving pol does what it takes to deliver for their constituents, who are only those who support and vote for them, nobody else. Tromp's constituency is only a small chunk of Americans and McConnell's is even smaller. They are not your friends. McConnell flourishes by delivering for certain Kentuckians and by knowing where political hatchets are buried. You and I are not his concern, except as nuisances and targets.

You've been duped on this. Trump's constituency consists of all United States citizens, not a subset of them. And McConnell's constituency consists of legal residents of the State of Kentucky. You are accepting these men's conveniently preferred--and false--view of what their constituency is. You don't have to have voted for your legal representative at any level to be their constituent.

I'm talking reality. A nominal constituent is anyone in your jurisdiction. Real constituents are those who support you and whom you deliver for. Pols who don't deliver for their constituents don't stay in office long. This holds true whatever the political system. Dictators' constituents are the domestic elites they serve. Elected leaders work for their supporters and can pretty much disregard the rest.

I maxed a Foreign Relations course at a USMC base college that taught exactly this. At the time, Carter had just taken office, and the point was made that Ford hadn't delivered to America, so bye-bye.

To whom has Tromp delivered so far? And who does he ignore or attack? He's labeled liberals and media The Enemy. Are they his constituents?

Again, you've given in to the Trump definition. I won't. I will continue to demand that my representatives either will work for the interests of their voting district (which, for Trump, is all of the United States, and for McConnell, all of Kentucky, or they should be bounced).

No, that's the PoliSci realistic definition.

Excellent goal. But if they pay you no heed, do you matter?

Excellent goal. But if they pay you no heed, do you matter?

They've rigged the system with gerrymandered districts so they don't have to pay heed to anyone but their big donors and its a very very difficult task to vote them out once they get in.

Joseph Biden hasn't even been sworn in yet, and Mitch McConnell is already promising to obstruct everything that the Biden Administration will attempt to do. He's intending to cripple the federal government and hurt the American People instead of doing his job.

Hmmm.

Where have we heard this before... four years ago maybe?

Good, Mitch is doing his job.....preventing and anti-American leftist administration from hurting America.

Deja vu

No, Moscow Mitch said it at the beginning of the Obama administration. Then when trump got elected and they couldn’t unwind ACA holding the senate and the house Paul Ryan said, “We’ve been the party of obstruction for so long we’ve forgotten how to govern.”

No, Satan, your Prince-of-Lies routine falls short once again. Four years ago Republicans controlled both the Senate and the House.

You heard it before when McConnell as majority leader said the Senate's number one legislative priority was to make Barack Obama a one-term President. You heard it before when McConnell blocked most of Obama's judicial appointments.

I heard from reliable unnamed sources that Mr McConnell is doing a fine job.

LOL, they are Satan, they are demonic. Satan is the perfect term for these people.
They have the nerve to paint themselves as "good Christians".

Turtle McConnell is the ultimate seditious thug. I hate how these types seem to have long lives.

Fixed that for ya.

Someone doesn't like checks and balances when they keep their POTUS from going all god king.

Preventing a duly elected president whom I don't happen to like from doing the job he was elected to do, is only good when (D)'s do it!!!

Partisan hack is partisan hack  imagine that.

IDK what job you think POTUS is elected to do but most of Biden's agenda has nothing to do with the actual job...which is actually quite limited in scope. And damn near every shred of the Harris administrations agenda/platform on his campaign page can only be done by Congress. Which is why Mitch can shit all over it.

Mitch McConnell is loyal to Mitch McConnell. He's shit all over his oath of office and done horrific amounts of damage to the United States of America because it's allowed him to keep a failing political party (his party) in power.

President-elect Joe Biden has promised to revive a coronavirus-ravaged economy, repair creaky American infrastructure and put millions back to work, but unless Democrats win Senate run-off elections in Georgia in January, McConnell will sabotage Biden's efforts to repair the economy.

The coronavirus-related recession wiped out a year of economic growth and five years of job creation, while pushing millions into unemployment and leaving small businesses teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. Hunger and homelessness are rising, and state governments may be forced to slash jobs and budgets in the months to come.

The Senate desperately needs to take up bills to help repair the damage, however, McConnell has already vowed to obstruct Biden at every possible turn. He wants to do everything he can to sabotage a Biden presidency and likely all legislation proposed by the House Democrats will not even be allowed to come up for a vote in the Senate.

^^ There's a theory out there that KH can unseat him from his throne with the stroke of a pen. Will she?

McConnell gleefully blocked hundreds of bills that passed in the House from even being voted on in the Senate, and now he's whining that the Democrats aren't giving him "unity".

Yes, and he knows his crowd will eat it up. When they talk about "bipartisanship", what they really mean is the Democrats capitulating on everything. Too often in the past, they've gotten it. I'm cautiously optimistic Biden isn't going to continue that.
