Anyone know how to write one? What should be included? This is for an application for school.

I need a little more info. What are you writing a mission statement for or do you just make one up entirely? I mean what's the question, exactly?

Huh?

What are they asking for?
Something like a objective on a resume?
What you want from your education?

A mission statement should be a brief discription of your company or orginazation and its goals.

IE;
The mission of DeVry University is to foster student learning through high-quality, career-oriented undergraduate and graduate programs in technology, business, and management. The University delivers its programs at schools, centers, and online to meet the needs of a diverse and geographically dispersed student population.

I don't know actually. It just states to include a mission statement with my application.

Mission statement:

1) What do you want to do/what's your goal?
2) How do you want to do it?
3) What skills, qualities, talents will you employ in doing it?
4) What is the outcome you hope to achieve?

That's pretty much how the courses I've taken have taught them.

IN business, a mission statement is an explanation of goals and attitude that convey intentions for the business. Not sure that helps, but there it is.

Bleh, this is the time when I wish I could write well. I never know what to say in things like this.

Is that a mission statement for you? What your mission at the university is?

If so:

1. Figure out your goals. What do you want out of the institution?
2. Figure out a few things that will help you achieve those goals. What are a couple of character traits that will help? What are a couple of activities that you think will help accomplish the goals consistently over your course of study?

A bachelor of arts degree in Underwater Basketweaving is a key to achieving success in today's global basketweaver community. Through integrity, perseverence, and a dedicated personal habits of study and attendance, I will attain that degree with the pride and honor befitting a University of Moroninity student.

Yada yada. Yeah, I'm good.

If you're not goal-oriented, become that way.

Like a girls skirt. Short enough to be interesting and long enough to cover the subject. Three to five sentences works nicely.

Mission:
To explore brave new kinks. To boldy go where no nude woman has gone before.

Thank so much KM, you've been a great help.

And thanks to everyone else as well!

Lukky, how did you know what I was planning on studying? ;)

I didn't, but the way I figure it if you turn me loose to write something intended to mimic a real mission statement you'll be rejected anyway. Terms such as "collective wisdom" and "optimalization of meta-process improvement systems visualization" have no place on a school application.

Thank god, cuz I don't have a friggin clue what that even means.

I think I'm too old to go back to school - I burnt out all my brain cells years ago.

Nonsense.

Do they accept pictures with the app?

LOL! Suggesting I should send them a nude one? I'm not sure that'll help my cause if they decide to give me an IQ test or something.

This isn't a Mission: Difficult. It's a Mission: Statement. Difficult should be a walk in the park, for you. Seriously, go with vixen's advice.

This is a two year course, with, ugh, science subjects. Whatever else it'll be interesting.

And I did take Vixie's advice, mixed with KM's.

They gave some great advice, so, you did the right thing. Anyhow, how the hell are ya?

Great. Got beer in hand,(not now, silly,)&, thank goodness I'm off, tommorrow. Today was hell. Customer's left & right.

Nonsense, they'd fall all over themselves to admit you.

I think the admittance part will be the easy part. It's the damn courses that I'll be lost with.

Nasty - good for you. I'm having a small drinkie poo before bed too.
