I don't know if anyone remembers this or not, but last September, two of our cats got out, and we have yet to figure out how. We found one, and ended up with MIA when we never found the other one.

Well, tonight, we were watching a movie together, and when it was over, ghosst took the dog out. He came back in, carrying MIA and announced that one of the screens was out of the window and we needed to do a cat-count. With MIA back in the house, we are only missing on ... my baby cat, Grendel. *sob* It was horrible when Perry went missing, and now I have to go through it again ... :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

:( I'm sorry, I really hope you find them, losing pets is terrible.

*great big hugs*

Our cat, Sherbert, got hit by a car a month ago. The worst part was telling my kids. I'm so sorry that you lost a kitty, and I hope he comes back.

Ouch! So sorry to hear this Miss Karen! :( I hope you find him and quickly, I don't know what I'd do if Rhys ever got out of the apartment. Hopefully he knows where his food dish is and will come back all on his own, safe and sound, after a marvelous (to him) little adventure.

We have the front porch open with some nice smelly wet food right in front of his cat-crate. When he was injured a week or so ago, he spent a lot of time hiding in there, so I'm hoping that he will see it as a safe place and will wait for me in there after he eats (thankfully for our purposes, the cats had been out of food for awhile, so I'm sure he's starving ... he's a little piggy).

My cat hates going out so it hasn't bailed out on us. We also have a dog to keep it in line. Border collies are like that.

my 2 cats were put to sleep in april :(

Well that sucks. I know my grandmother's cat was gassed a few years ago. That's the most recent pet death that I can recall.

I just want my cuddly Grendel baby back ... he always sleeps with me ... I don't know if I can sleep without him *cries*

Poor Grendel, he is probably scared to be out in the big wide world alone. I hope he finds his way home tonight.

I do too ... we moved the stuff to the back porch, which is the door we actually use most often so it smells most like us going to and from. There is a cat carrier and the wet food out there - this time, though, it's MIA's crate ... she is in it much more often than he is in his, so hopefully it smells stronger and he will follow the scent home. In the meantime, I'm just praying and trying not to cry.

Well you have my empathy. You are doing all you can do and all the right things.

*hugs*

I know if my little cuddle cat, Star ever went missing I'd be so upset.

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

Fury :rose:

Thanks

I'm seriously just seconds away from tears right now ... I'm holding back, but only because I know what it will do to my sinuses and allergies.

I'm so upset right now. He is my baby, and now he's gone. *sniffles and keeps trying not to cry*

Ooooooooh, I wish I had a magic wand to bring back your kitty. *hugs*

It is a good name for him - he has extra toes, so his front paws are HUGE (thus the connection with the monster from Beowulf - huge hands). My av is now a pic of him sitting in my lap.

He's beautiful. My mum has a polydactyl kitty named Satchel, for Satchel Paige, the pitcher.

I hope your little one returns safely.

My two are 18 and 16 and I will be devastated when it's their time.

My thoughts are with you.

Hope your baby is soon home safe and sound. I have always had cats who were free to go outside whenever they wanted and always came home for dinner if not before, but with our 2 little queens now and the culture in Holland of not necessarily allowing them out, I am not quite ready to cater to their pleading looks as they sit on the windowsills watching the world outside they so want to explore. :cattail:

Catalina :rose:

Our cats are never allowed outside .. they only get out when something like the screen popping out happens. Cats just wreak too much havok on the local wildlife ...

Anyway, the good news:

I did manage to sleep, and after ghosst and Holly had both been out a few times, and Holly went to work, ghosst opened the door and said "hey, your cat's back" ... of course, I'm still asleep at this point, so I'm like "huh *blink blink* what?" He said again "your cat's back, he's in the hallway ... well, now he's in the kitchen"

So I stumbled out of bed, picked up my baby (who had dashed into the playroom first thing, and tried to hide under the bed - the playroom is where all of my stuff is ... it's his favorite hangout/hiding place), and asked ghosst when he got back. Ghosst didn't know, just that he opened the door, and Grendel was sitting there looking at him and crying.

So yay, my baby came home. I don't know if his nose is better so he could follow it back home, or if he's just luckier than Perry was, or if he's just such a scaredy cat (this would be my vote) that he never left the propery and was probably hiding under the deck the whole time we were looking last night ... but he's home.

Yay! Am glad to hear he made it back safe and sound MIss Karen! You must be totally relieved.

Oh yeah ... I've already snuggled with him for awhile (until the dog came up to welcome him back home LOL), and made sure that he's ok. The only thing I haven't been able to check is the foot that has had so many problems with, and for that ... I have to have Holly - he turns into a miniature tiger if you try to hold it still to look at, so it takes two of us. But even if that needs to be cleaned out and medicated again, I'm just thrilled to have him home again where he belongs.

Woohoooo!!! It's good to hear he made it back. I have this vision in my head of poor ghost out there duct taping all the window screens in.

Hell no, I believe he nailed the offending screen in (it's an old house, the screens are on wooden frames that clip over the windows on the outside).

Glad to hear your cat returned safely... I know what it is like to have one go missing.

I've been dealing with a close friend who lost the second of her two cats to old age last week. :(

I ended up creating an in memoriam plaque, with a very appropriate poem, printed it out and framed it and gave it to her, then just finished doing a matching one for the first one that passed away.

if you want a peek at them, PM me, and i'll send links to them.
