Hey there...
Has anyone installed a mirror on the ceiling over the bed.??
What's the bed way to do it...????

i was checking some out in Home Depot, but they all said NOT to install them on the ceiling...........i obviously don't want the thing to come crashing down on us.....( what a mood breaker)...

My boyfriend and i adore watching each other in the mirror i placed over the headboard and of course in dresser mirror and bathroom mirror......etc.....

so this would be a really great surprise for him ....

thanks

Maybe some of that fake plastic mirror stuff might be safer. You might lose a little bit in quality but you aren't trying to pluck your eyebrows in it right? :)

thanks kitten..

call me stupid, but what the heck is fake mirror stuff and do where would i find it ?.....

It is thin flexible plastic mirror, like thin plexi but reflective like a mirror. I am sure you could get it at a Home Depot type place. IKEA sells mirrors made out of it but they are too small for your use however, you could buy a few and put them side by side or in a square. It is much cheaper than real mirror made out of glass and very lightweight so you could attach it pretty easily and while it could give you a nasty surprise in the night if it let go it wouldn't kill you. Unless you have a bad heart.

Just bear in mind that not only will it be there while you are having sex, but it will also be there when you are laid up with the flu and looking and feeling like complete crap and the last thing on earth you will want to see is your sorry miserable feverish pathetic self....

Have you considered mirror tiles?

In any case, I would use both construction adhesive AND brackets of some kind secured into the ceiling joists.

The lighter the mirror you choose the better -- there are some very good plastic, unbreakable mirrors on the market and I'd definitely choose one of them over a glass mirror for the ceiling.

Next time you're in Home Depot, ask about ceiling mirrors -- I'm pretty sure there are some made for mounting on the ceiling.

What a great idea

I just had a great idea. Can I get one of those carnival mirrors, one of the wavy ones that would make me look very slender in bed, maybe with a little note in the corner that says "objects in mirror are larger than they appear."

Whatever you do, secure the damn thing well for your safety.

Those dopes at the home improvement stores said not to do it only cause they don't know how.

key is to peace mill them together. get mirrors no more than 32" wide by 4' long. get the rubber tip L brackets and make sure you screw them into cieling joist or they will come down on the back of his head while hes eating your pussy!!!

btw. Most cieling joist are on 16" centers,,, sometimes 24". get a stud finder and mark all joist before you start.

I'll bet huskie has mirrors above his bed.

I've found, the lighter, the better. I would get kinda distracted by wondering whether or not that mirror that weighs a ton is going to fall from the ceiling by the sheer power of the vibrations when he makes me scream. :)

The plastic mirror things are made of mylar. They distort about like a carnival mirror. Easy to install in a number of ways. Adam & Eve (www.adameve.com) used to sell them. We put one up. About three months later it went to the attic and still has not returned to the bedroom.

thanks for the ideas folks...

sounding like it's not going to work for me....part of my ceiling is simply painted ductwork so i was hoping for some type of adhesive .....can't use brackets or screws.....

i appreciate the ideas..

I might have to submit to his ideas of videotape so we can watch that way......:D

Mirror tiles would attach with typical tile adhesive or mastick. The fnal choice as to the mirror will determine what adhesive would be best to use. What kind of ductwork are you going to be dealing with? If it's functional -- heating or cooling vents -- you shouldn't cover it with a mirror anyway. If it's just decorative, could it be removed and replaced with a mirror?

The problem you may run into with adhesive is that the bond to the mirror is only going to be a strong as the reflective coating on the back of the mirror, not real problem with tiles, but a major consideration with a heavy single piece mirror.

Perhaps you can at least mount the video camera in the ductwork to get the same viewpoint as a mirror.

To be honest, mirrored robes and a video camera will give you a much better result, with a mirrored ceiling only one person at a time can use it...... kind of removes the shared part of the experience......

I wouldn't be interested in mirrors. I grew up in earthquake country and wouldn't sleep in the bed until the headboard was securely bolted to the wall. The idea of a mirror, or a flat-screen television like in that commercial, or anything much over the bed would leave me too tense. Had a bathroom mirror leap off the wall once and smash all to hell, scaring me half to death. Not conducive to a restful evening, that.

Besides, as regards a mirror on the ceiling, what would it matter when the lights are always off? ;)

Be careful. Find some non-flaky feng shui info about it. Mirrors do weird things with energy. For hot sex, kudos to you, but it p'bly won't make for peaceful sleep during the work wk. Being able to cover it can solve any issues.
Good luck.
