Hey everyone this is my first thread ever. I hope I get some nice comments and interesting discussion. Anyways....

I was talking with some friends and family last night, we were just shootin the shit. At the time I was drinking a glass of milk. I love milk. Suddenly, an idea popped into my head which I brought up with the group. We are the only animal who drinks milk from another species. Now it's weird enough, when you think about it, that adults still drink milk, which is a food produced by mothers for their newborn young. But the idea of us drinking this baby food from another animal, now who came up with that? It would make a little more sense to be drinking human milk. Now my question is this: If it was being sold, would you try human milk? Why or why not. And ladies, would you ever be inclined to sell your milk to a store if there was a demand? Has anyone actually ever tried it, other than when you were an infant? What does it taste like? Please, I know this is an odd question but hey, we are all pretty odd here aren't we?

The much advertised benefits of milk are actually just a farce promoted by dairy farmers. Any and all the vitamins and minerals contained in milk can be obtained in other ways. For example calcium - it can be taken in pill form, or through many vegetables, and is not any easier to break down in your system via milk than it is in the other ways, and might even be harder. The only healthy milk is breast milk, which has cancer fighting properties.

I love milk. Especially straight from the farm.
Town milk tastes disgusting to me.

There is a lot of differing opinions as to cow's milk
being good/bad for us.

Just to name one.

My youngest has sensitivities to dairy products
and on a dairy free diet (replaced with soy products)
leads a healthy happy life.

On milk he was frequently sick, rundown and irritable.

Yet my oldest son is fine and guzzles milk.

Freya, bring your anti-cancer agents on over, will ya? Let's promote health. :p

Sorry love, my boobies have been dried up for almost 16 years. Feel free to practice your suckling on them though.

Practice suckling... nothing wrong with that.

I've been practicing that for years.

Hell, if I remember correct, my first report card said I played well with udders.

I'm pretty sure that's what it said. It was a while ago....

Cute!

Check your Yahoo buddy.

i'm highly allergic to milk and other bovine dairy products. don't know why. so milk's not good for ME. now when i tell my son to drink the cow's milk, i feel a little hypocritical. i guess unless he tests allergic to it, he can just keep drinking it.

it's hard to go against institutionalized dietary practices.

try getting brown rice instead of white in a regular mainstream restaurant. or soy milk ice cream instead of cow-milk ice cream.

about buying human milk--i wouldn't. it would seem like a violation of women's bodies. if there was a demand for human milk, the supply would inevitably come from women in poor countries. :(

not to be funny, but that sucks.

I'm at a remote locale tonight... no yahoo on this comp. :(

Too bad, you'll have to wait then. Just kidding - it was just me slobbering over your new AV.

LMAO.

Thanks...

I had a crap Av up when I left... forgot to change it. This was the only thing I had handy, so I cropped and posted it.

From the Chinese medcal standpoint, milk is actually very unhealthy for you. It promotes phlegm production and wreaks havoc with allergies. There are a few who can handle milk, especially those with type B blood.

Signs and symptoms include:

bloating
abdominal distention
loose stools
rhinitis (runny nose)
heartburn
constipation
belching
nausea
gas
phlegm in the throat
fatigue

But it really doesnt make much sense. My original intentions of this thread was to discuss peoples feelings on drinking anothers bodily fluids. And for some reason, most of us are more comforatable drinking it from an animal rather than a human. Why?

Water is definitely the best thing you can drink, followed by tea.

Milk is something that is pushed because most people will take an alternative other than water or tea. The phosphoric acid in soda actually causes bones to degrade, as do chemicals in certain brands of coffee. So milk is one of those happy mediums I guess.

I myself drink one, maybe two glasses of milk a month. I'm just not overly crazy about it. But I do eat other dairy products.

institutionalized practices is why.

next time you're in a restaurant like tgif or arby's or bennigan's, ask for SOY milk. if enough people ask for soy milk over the next year, it will become part of the institutionalized practices. and soy milk might be a step towards human milk in terms of breaking through set thinking.

I'd of had to cancel anyway... I ended up closing a large contract that aft.

I like cows. I like to eat them, I like to drink milk products, I like to wear their skin on my feet and on my outer shell to keep warm. It may not be PC, sue me.***

btw, maxwell, your sig is kinda sexist.
to state your thought from another point of view

the incapacity of the male mind to comprehend the complexity of the female mind is daunting.

but then again, i have faith in the male mind in general. just get disappointed in individual cases is all.

:)

Would I drink human milk? No.

Would I like to see it commercialized? No.

Would I like to see the ads? Hell yeah.

SOY!

Actually it already is in my town. I live in Boulder, CO aka Granola head central, the running capital of the world, The Peoples Republic of Boulder, where everyone is different in exactly the same way!

Within the next 5-6 weeks, my Sunday and evening schedule is going to totally clear up. *not a hint or anything, I swear* ;)

I don't drink milk, because I dislike it. But I eat cheese, and yogurt, and drink chocolate milk. It was really only recently that I leanred that it's not as healthy as we've been led to believe all these years.

Mercy Mia,

I know my sig is probably sexist but so is the world. Seriously though it just really defines my experience with women in general, but I probably have this view because I am surrounded by feminists. Very very preachy feminists.

LOL! Another honest man on Lit.

I dont see drinking milk as a bad thing. I would just rather have the kiddies drink milk at dinner than apple juice or soda...cause they sure aint gonna drink water...skim milk of course.

Milk from women is just a plain stupid concept...i am so sure they would love to be hooked up to a milking machine for an hour each day

i hardly drink milk in a glass anymore, but what the hell am I supposed to put in my Cap'n Crunch at my 11:30pm munchie time...water? soy milk? Ugh!
