The other day I got a notice that IE had some new security patch that I didn't have.

So I downloaded it. Ever since downloading it my computer hadn't been acting right. I had run ad aware before the installation of the patch. But I had forgotten to do it afterwards. I just ran it.. and found Alexa lurking in the background.

I guess they forgot to mention that when you download the patch you also download Alexa.

UGH! Why the fuck do they do that shit? Pisses me off.

And don't tell me to use a different browser. I've heard that a thousand times. I and I continue to use IE because I'm lazy.
;)

Netscape is cool, so is Opera. But hey continue to punish yourself.

Netscape hates me. I used to use it. For some reason I can't use it anymore. Besides the fact that I removed it from my computer.

Punishing myself is all the punishment I get sometimes. ;)

Guru.. Why do I not believe you?

I had XP on my computer until about a month ago....I made the mistake of downloading SP1. After a couple of days, I realized they had put in a program that detects "pirated" software on your PC. It then disables that software, and your system becomes very sluggish.

Screw that noise...I don't need MS punishing me because I crack the trial limit on some programs.

I have all the different versions of windows.. from 98se (what I'm using now) to XP Home version. (I think there is an XP business version around here someplace).

I won't change to anything because I can fix 98se. I know it like the back of my hand.

XP scares me. LOL

I am going to look into a different browswer though. But I'm not making any promises. ;)

IE has a self-repair feature you may want to try. Go to Add/Remove, click on IE, and one of the options is Repair IE or something like that. It's worth a shot.

Well shit.. I didn't even think to do that.

Thank you.

Remove the latest Security package thru Add/Remove Programmes. Either that or Draco can come over and format it for you...muhahahahahahaha

All the security patches list themselves in ADD/REMOVE and are removeable. A simple cure really.

In answer to the XP question. There are now 5 versions available.
XP Home, XP Professional, XP Professional (Corporate Version) Windows XP Tablet PC version, and the new Windows XP MediaCentre Version.

I'm using the Corporate edition on a dual boot machine. I'm not sure if it was ever released to the general public or not, I obtained my copy because we have links to an authourised Reseller. The Corp version required no dreaded "Product Activation" like the other three do. its install and go.

For the tech types, its Build # 2600.

format? You should be slapped. I just did that a couple of months ago ;)

I'm in the middle of downloading something.. so I'll remove it in a little while.

I've noticed that my cursor is choppy.. and slow to catch up with the movements of my mouse.

Something else I've noticed.. the letters are not showing up as I type on the screen. It will show a few.. then the cursor stops moving and then it will speed across the screen with all the letters I had typed a few seconds before.

I've done Virus scan, disc clean up, scandisc and defrag. Nothing is helping. It wasn't doing this before the update thing.

Any ideas?

QuickDuck has the right idea. I have just reciently made the change and couldn't be happier.

No more "Billy" trash for this boy!!:D

I hope you're downloading the SIMS ONLINE FREAKYGURLY

I will be in 10 minutes. I'm still in line waiting. I ummm accidently stepped out of line last night (closed the window). So I had to start all over again.

I bought my dell laptop back in August. My best friend works in the IT department at a hospital. He hooked me up with MS Office 2000, Norton AntiVirus Corporate edition....

Did you try cleaning up your HD with Ad Aware?

I ran it before I downloaded the patch. And then again tonight. I always run it before and after downloading or installing new programs or music.

This is the same company that changes the EULA when you get a security update.

Actually, they were supposed to be releasing their own spyware that AdAware wouldn't find.

Wonder if it's out yet.
