Dragon Naturally Speaking is about the best program out there for that. Of course the best ones are a bit expensive but I hear they are well worth the money. When you buy one it will walk you through the setup.

Yep. We bought a legit copy on ebay a few years ago, and it did work well. I believe it even came with a microphone headset. You have to be willing to put in the time to get the voice recognition set up (you read a series of stories they give you), but it's pretty easy to use.

i have windows xp dosnt already have voice reconigtion in it?

glad you're back home and healing, tbon. good luck and i hope you have a full, fast recovery.

important note:
if you're using a microphone on your pc for voice recognition... get one you can plug into a USB port. plugging a mic into the sound card directly can cause various sound anomolies and you'll also pick up some "electronic noise" from the pc itself. bypassing the jack in the sound card eliminates that.

the gadget/gizmo writer for the ny times (david pogue) highly recommends the current version of dragonfly. it's highly effective and the more you use it the better it gets. one of his articles noted the point i made above. sweeterika is right... it's definitely worth the money from all i've heard/read.

i have a head set that i use on my playstation games. i was hoping there was somthing out there free because i cant type to good and want to be able to just talk and let the comp do it for me.
