how dare workers have a choice on being in a union! This is so wrong!!! Everyone must be in the collective!

How many schools will be closed this week?
How many teachers are calling in sick?

Vote Union as it must be a forced choice! Workers are not smart enough to make their own decision and we MUST take away the choice

If you had the choice would you choose to be in a union or choose to make less money and worse benefits? What would your family want you to choose?

Will the union's go away in MI after this passes? Being in the technology side, made far more money then if I was held in the bondage of a union.

The proper response is that I always want to make just as much money as the worst worker on my crew because recognizing excellence with bonus pay is discrimination.

;) ;)

I've been installing some lovely union-made cabinets lately. The toe boards have been warped on some of them, and the fastening rails on several of them have been .25"-.375" short.

When you cut this crap with a jig in a shop, how does this happen, and how to do use it anyway and send it out?

I blame management.

Answer my question first then I'll answer yours.

I don't see the value in unions. they make things slow, impossible to change and adapt to market conditions, offer little flexibility to get the job done and create an artificial demand on employee pay.

workers MUST have the right to choice. why are pro union people so Anti American, anti choice, and anti freedom?

of course I would never want to be in a union. but by giving people the choice, the union will not go away. make it will make the union wake up and jump into the twentieth century

Oh noes! Da unions gave you bad cabinets!

You whine too much.

Answer my question please.

Irrelevant.

You ask a question that has no bearing on the issue of whether a worker should have the right to refuse to join a union and still retain employment.

You should have seen the face-frame on one that I put in yesterday. I've split and burnt better-looking wood.

If your goal is rational discussion, as you seem to indicate, then discounting what I have seen and done with my own eyes and hands doesn't help your case.

Union says it is not the result, but the intention of the worker.

Management cannot say boo. When I was steward, they had to come to me with any complaints about an individual worker at which point my job was to tell them that I would look into it which meant that I was going to ignore them and send a report to the union saying that management was harassing my "expert" crew...

;) ;)

QC is missing the boat somewhere.

My goal is not rational discussion with you.

QC is missing the boat somewhere.

We were looking at RV's and were immediate turned off by one built either in IN or MI. The sales person was so proud that it was "built by the union" but it looked like a total piece of shit. the RV had so many flaws that a child could spot. there was no QC and worse yet, that RV was the most expensive.

His goal is not rational discussion, that is only a gambit. His goal is to keep you posting so that he can find an Irish pennant with which to begin pulling your Carhart's apart and once he finds that thread, all rational discourse is over he will go OCD on it. If you stop accepting a brow-beating he will follow you to every thread, no matter the topic and resume his victory lap. Funny thing is though, he doesn't care if the damned pennant is even attached to anything; the things he finds important and irrelevant are mind-boggling and be aware, he has a penchant for lying, just making things up out of whole cloth, because that is what "educated" people do to the people who make our lives possible with honest labor; he really looks down on we, the little people. And it does not matter what the topic is, he is an expert in every field, every single one, as you will soon find out if you want to talk about unions. He invented them.

show me where being in a union guarantees that you make "more" money!

The right to work law effectively prevents unions from securing meaningful labor agreements, thus unions become irrelevant. Nothing more than flaccid political lobbying groups. Workers have the right to not join unions by not taking union jobs.

When these laws are put into place, wages plummet. Retirement and medical benefits wither. America ends up with fewer good jobs, consumers spend less, and the greater economy suffers. But the few folks at the top of the pyramid? Well they make out like bandits, don't they?

You're still butt-hurt that they made your horse surrender, aren't you?

Really?

You want to tell us about your vast experience with unions?

I've been in more than one.

Then back up your own point, show us where one union holds the position you claim. It's not someone else's responsibility to back your argument.

QC is missing the boat somewhere.

Or they are a volume-based, low education level union, lord knows that was what my gig was; it was unionized alright, but the pay still sucked. The only benefit was a job that was immune to firing.

We spent a lot of time on the fourth floor getting stoned...

If management left their offices, we began filing safety grievances.

You would see them on Christmas for your niggardly bonus, and that was about it.
