Michigan Roll Call

I am ready for the weekend! Plan to spend part of it at the pool!
And then my kids are back to school! Finally some quiet time in the house!

I've gone in years past, but my broken ankle is acting up again, so not this year.
I can't say I'm a complete fan of all jazz, but I do love New Orleans/Firehose style...

Rained terribly this morning but warmed up...there's sunshine out there now.

Let me go outside and wave it east for ya'll! 🌞

Beautiful storms here, on and off since two. Seems tp be over now that I'm home safe. I hope everyone had a safe journey home.
I'll be at Art, Beats, and Eats. Anyone else?

Anyone else get drenched??

We had huge storms all Wednesday night and much of Thursday. Then it dried up enough for us to get a set and a half of tennis in after work. Then it started raining again.

Good morning all.

The storms went on past 11:30 last night around me. Lots of power outs all over the place.

We have an end of summer party planned for tomorrow. Now that all depends on if the downed line gets fixed today. A pole broke the other day in the next lot. DTE fixed all their stuff but left the line in our yard down. They tell us it's a cable or phone line so they don't touch it. NICE, they don't contact anyone either. So now we play phone tag with all the different companies trying to get someone to our house and fix it. I told my wife, everyone probably still has service. I might need to take a short walk to the back of the yard with the axe and make sure I disconnect some service today

Be careful.

DTE said it was phone/cable line. Not my phone, not my cable. I'm pissed to think we might have to change our party plans again. And now because nobody will help get this line out of our yard.

Ditto to what Monkey said. Jazz makes me wanna light candles and have sax. :)

I need to learn how to play. I keep saying that I should fork out the cash for lessons.

Welcome back! I hope your enjoying Lit again!

So my wife talked to DTE. The line should never have been left in our yard like it was. The DTE guys are instructed to remove ALL wires from the ground before leaving a site. The crappy part is that we are the ones that called about the line in our yard. They worked on the building next door and left.

So now with over 20,000 people without power at all, we go to the bottom of the list and they have no idea when we will have anyone there.

Told my wife I'm getting out the big ladder and getting the line off my grass when I get home. I'll get something into the pole so I can draw it taunt. I tried to pull it right out of the box last night but they got it hooked pretty good. One way or another, this party will go on.

I don't understand how those workers just left it like that. Regardless of whose line it was. What happened to helping out, going above and beyond?
DTE is notorious for their lack of customer service. Four years ago it took them THREE weeks to get my power back on. It took me letting them know I won't be paying my bill on it's due date. I'll pay it when everything is working as it should. 3 weeks in Dec with a newborn. We ended up staying at families. But the whole thing still makes me upset and want to go off the grid altogether!

So against the better wishes of my family, the wire is no longer across my yard and the party is a go. I pounded a few 16 spike nails into the pole and pulled the wire as tight as I could twisting it all around.

The party start is 6 pm but a few of the kids are coming by early to hang out and help setup the rest of the stuff as they can't stay later. We have a good group that shows up. Many that help setup and or cleanup also. Makes having these a lot easier and not that big of a deal really. Just the cost of the dogs and buns and we are good to go

So anyone in the Michigan Detroit area?

I'm home alone for the weekend. The girlfriend told me "invite your wenches over and then get tested afterwords" well. While I'm not looking to invite any wenches over I wouldn't mind some advice on where or what to do in the great town of the D. I'm originally a country boy so I'm not sure what to anymore.
