...goes to show the system works. The article doesn't specify which party the cheats tried to add votes to; maybe this is a good thing, since it's about the actual ACT of deception, but i have my suspicions. Maybe I'm wrong, won't be the first or last time :)

Trenae Myesha Rainey, 28, was charged with three counts of election law forgery and three counts of forging signatures on absentee ballot applications after she is alleged to have filled out applications and forged residents' signatures on the applications at Father Murray Nursing Home in Center Line, where she worked.

Carless Clark, 59, was charged with impersonating another to vote and election law forgery after she was alleged to have signed and returned her grandson's mail-in ballot despite his decision to vote in person.

Nancy Juanita Williams, 55, was charged with 14 counts of false statement on an absentee ballot application, forging a signature on an application and election law forgery in several different courts.

How many votes are we talking about? Even for a few votes, they should be punished, but that's not changing any results.

It is a pretty astoundingly dumb move to commit voter fraud by attempting single digit fraudulent votes. I'm all for punishing them to the full extent of the law, but on the other hand I'd say life has probably punished them plenty already if they are that stupid. That's about as brilliant as a get rich quick scheme that involves saving a penny a year until you have enough money to buy a lottery ticket. Hey, it could happen right...

In April 2021, BOE contacted the Enforcement Division of DOS to investigate a case of double voting during the 2020 General Election. A signature review of a returned absentee ballot to the Detroit City Clerk determined the signature did not match the registered voter’s signature in the QVF. That registered voter also voted at his polling location on Election day.

And this is what really happens when voter fraud occurs: when the folks in charge are willing and able to do their jobs, you get caught. More to the point, it's extremely rare and voting by mail does not make it any less so.
