An agreeable location - I suggest a campout - because I like it and it's my birthday.

Grand Haven/Muskegan area is just up the west side of the state... not 100% sure, but I think it only about 3-4 hours from Chicago.

Muskegon would be nice, there's Michigan's Adventure right there. Anyone know if any of the water parks over there are still operating?

Pleasure Island was one of my favorite places when I was a kid, but I think my mom said they closed down a few years back.

Either way, there's plenty of water, sand, and woods for a camp trip. Muskegon state park would be nice. I've camped there in the dead of summer, and in the camp ground, it's still nice and cool from all the trees.


Muskegon is a straight shot up the coast from the Indiana/Illinois side, and it's about a 3 hour trip according to map quest, and in my experiance, mapquest is usually off by at least 15-30 minutes.

My birthday is June 3. I'm all for any weekend in May/June. Of course, with the yo-yo weather in Michigan, it might be best to wait until June, anyhow. I guess which weekend would be decided on what's best for all interested.

Grand Haven or Muskegon are perfect for me, since I'm from Kalamazoo, and they're both easy to get to. State Parks are generally clean, safe and pretty cheap. ($15-$20 a night per site, and I *think* you can put three tents up on one .. I'll have to check that)

This isn't exclusively Michiganders .. anyone who wants to come is welcome, of course. The only requirement is you have to wish me a happy birthday..
