Each to their own but to me Michael Jackson never was nor will be King of anything except his own theme park. He gets freakier all the time, I like some of his music but he gets paler, skinnier and weirder not a good role model for the kids today. he has changed himself so much it's not funny and lots of kids look up to him.

But then again, the case was settled because there was so little evidence it wasn't worth going to trial.

He's a little wierd, but I'd say compared to some of the performers in history he's positively mild

My opinion only but I think with the way our kids are growing up they are seeing lots of people like Michael Jackson who are not happy with thier appearance so they surgically alter it.
So many teenagers have hangups now and yes I do think Michael Jackson is a bad example. He is in the public eye, stating through his surgically altered appearance, "I didn't like myself so I allowed a surgeon to change what I look like.'" Ok you may think that I am being mean to him. But I would like the message the music stars to be (among the many like don't harm yourself or others etc) accept yourself for who you are. Like who you are. We are all unique and special. Instead of "kill me rape me I wanna die etc"
Self expression is fine but responsibilty hadn in hand with self expression would be good. Like if the bands/singers who sing these kind of lyrics publically state, "These are words only, they do not represent what we believe or want to do."

I think Michael Jackson could have been much greater if he had not altered his physical image but projected to his millions of fans, "I am who I am and I am proud." Instead he comes across as being very strange indeed. We are all entitled to be weird or eccentric (most of us have idiosyncrasies - even if we don't admit it!)

yes you are right, the case was indeed settled, (read the family was paid a HUGE amount of money!)

I don't know if he's guilty or not, I wasn't there, probably no one on this board was, I hope not anyway.

IF he did anything we'll never know since the family that was suing him signed a contract saying they'd never tell anything more about the case. Was it extortion? maybe. Was it the truth? MJ and the family know. But in anycase it helps to have LOTS & LOTS of money, just incase there is any evidence that needs to be swept under the bedsheets.

King of Has Beens! *lol* I agree with the comments about him regarding his appearance and personality traits - weird, gross, unsettling - all that...

But if we're talking pure music (lets use Wagner as an example - a musical genius but a Nazi... do we discount his music, assume it never existed? Maybe that should be a separate thread) - anyway - I think he did some wonderful stuff in his time, in terms of pop music - both with the Jackson 5 and on his own. But his heyday ended at least 10 years ago... and that makes him a has been in my book...

However - he might still have it in him... who knows what he might yet do... (lock your kids up!)
