Miami Vice....

The wife and I talked about this and decided they should've done it as a comedy.

Adam Sandler should've been Crockett...

And they should've used all the Wayans brothers for Tubbs and just kept switching them in and out to emphasis how unimportant he really was.

I heard its good, but the plot is too complicated to follow. I shall wait for cable

In this episode of kbate rates movies she has not seen:

Miami Vice (the movie) 2006

Hollywood yet again proves they have run out of ideas by dredging up a lame television show only notable for the bikini clad women in the opening credits and the classy car driven by the detectives.

This lame remake - filled with gratuitous violence and sex fails on every level to achieve excellence of any kind.

I give it a huge two drugs down.

if they did it is a late-eighties period piece it would be interesting. Now its just another cop movie.

They should at least have them driving around in expensive cars looking moody.

I feel so dejected. You guys can't even begin to imagine how long I've been waiting to tell people I was in this movie.

I am sure since the moment you found out you were going to be in it. Start your own "Guess what, I'm in Miami Vice" thread. No one's looking in here.

Two Drugs Down in my book would mean "Only good when stoned out of your mind".

Well duh. How do you think the original show survived?

You have no idea how I've waited for a thread about the film to erupt on the GB.

Getting takes from others from around the country/world about the film is a hoot.

Your sexy mug is something I shall keep an eye out for tomorrow night.

It incorporated music heavily into the scenes, and not just instrumental music, actual cutting edge music.

It used movie-style camera angles and complex pan and crane shots. Since the beginning of tv, shows were shot to be viewed on 12 inch screens, but Michael Mann realized that although television screens had gotten a LOT bigger, the way shows were filmed hadn't adapted. So he filmed Miami Vice as if it were a movie, and in that way he incorporated a lot more artistic lattitude into the scenes.

It didn't take the audience for granted and the plots were much more sophisticated. This was a trend first started with shows like Hill St Blues and St. Elsewhere, but Vice took it to a much different level.
great analysis and I happen to agree.

Chances are slim you'll find me, but I'll give you some direction. I'm standing next to Colin Farrell when he goes up to a bar and orders a drink. This is within the first 2 or 3 minutes of the movie.

Also, you may notice that Colin's head is a few inches above mine. As a matter of fact, you'll notice that no one in the immediate vicinity is looking down on him, despite the fact that the guy is 5'8", maximum. That's because they wouldn't let anyone taller than him or Jamie (who's about the same height) stand next to the stars and make our heroes look like the midgets they are. As a matter of fact, many of the girls in the crowd around them are barefoot, since they came to the shoot in heels.

This was particularly difficult for me, being 6'2". Michael Mann chased me out of some earlier scenes before I figured out what the problem was. In order to get the half second shot you probably won't even notice, I had to crouch with my knees bent to appear shorter, for hours.

If you're looking for a movie that will showcase Miami the way the original series did, you're in for a big disappointment. Very little of the movie takes place in recognizable Miami. All in all, I found the movie a bit underwhelming, but I was somewhat prepared for it. Several months after they shot the scenes I featured in (one of which was a 3 day, multimillion dollar boat race scene that was cut entirely), rumors were surfacing that they had run into many, many problems in production.

One funny thing you'll pick up on if you have a good eye is that Colin gains about 20 pounds through the course of the movie.

Dude, being an extra sucks. If this is your first time, you should make sure it's also your last.

Take it from someone who's been there and done that.

Are you joking??

You only actually have to do something 4 out of the 12-15 hours you are there, get paid more than then min. wage, and free food and bev! Bring a book, is all.

Congrats, Marquis! I dislike Colin as an actor, and was very dissapointed to learn they chose him to play Don's part, but will watch just to see you crouch for him. :D

Unless they have you on site for those 12 hours, standing on your feet or possibly standing in the rain. Shooting club scenes are the worst because they expect you to dance for hours and hours and look excited about it. And the gruel they serve the extras damn sure would never touch the plate of the cast or crew. You basically get treated like moving, breathing props and you have to stand around with a bunch of divas who think they're going to get "discovered".

The best way to be an extra is to show up for calls that involve a lot of people, get your voucher/time card at the beginning, slip away, go home for 12 hours then come back and turn your time sheet in at the end of the day. No one will even miss you.
