Merrick Garland Not Doing the Job

I sure would like to know what it is that Garland finds more important than dealing with the criminals — within and outside the Trump White House — that tried to overturn a free election.

On to Mark Meadows, Michael Flynn, and Stephen Miller.

I can hear the board Trumpettes gnashing their teeth from here. :D

Like most bureaucrats and politicians Garland knows if he doesn't do as he's told his life will be destroyed.

Multiple lawmakers in the GOP caucus are reportedly considering impeaching the attorney general if they reclaim the House in 2022.

"We just need to investigate and get all the facts right now," Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told the outlet, alleging that half a dozen "whistleblowers" have come forward to aid in the effort. "We're focused on getting the truth for the American people."

now the word 'truth' and gym jordan aren't intimately acquainted, but they clearly perceive the threat and need to shut him up, shut him down.

He has to speak up and step up before anyone can shut him down. The question is there, though, that seventeen months and the obvious coupists are still walking around free. So far, Trump and his minions are, in fact, above the law.
let's hope that old maxim pans out to be true: the wheels of justice grind slow but exceedingly fine

The sooner Americans realize there is only one way to treat traitors...the less the inevitable violence that is coming our way.

Hopefully, this weak and unprincipled apparatchik of the left will be impeached by Republicans after November.

Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner said he thinks the DOJ is "much farther along in their criminal investigation of the insurrection -- not just the foot soldiers, but the command structure of the insurrection than any of us know."

"All of the data points are beginning to point toward Donald Trump, in fact, being under a federal criminal investigation in the grand jury, because prosecutors would not go off on some wild fishing expedition in the grand jury, asking pointed questions about a former president unless they'd been vetted up through the highest levels of the Department of Justice, so I think all of these indicators are pretty ominous signs for Donald Trump," Kirschner said.

Garland is also quoted somewhere else as saying the commission's investigations have revealed more information than the DOJ had discovered.

All information is of value and can be used to build a case.

People truly have no patience anymore. #justsayin

Impeach means the House brings charges to the Senate for a trial.

As Trump would say, "BFD"

Garland is doing his job, being a political shill. He's mouthing the words but he's not going to act on them.

Why not?

Because he's smart enough to understand that unless he has an open and shut, ironclad, case, a case that even the die hardest Trump supporter can't deny, that the political back draft is going to destroy both him and his party.

It's pretty obvious that the republicans are going to take the house this fall and more than likely the senate as well and he can look forward to spending virtually everyday for the next two years testifying before various congressional committees as well as facing impeachment himself. I can't see him throwing himself on that sword.

I increasingly think that the DOJ will bring criminal charges to Trump and his coconspirators. I just think it comes much too late and maybe not enough to prove out the "no one's above the law in the United States" adage. In every other coup and coup attempt I've seen across the world (and I specialized in seeing and analyzing them), the coup and coupist weren't any more apparent that they are in the Trump coup attempt and they were quickly taken care of. It's already too long for this one not to have been cleaned up. This coup was so much in the open that anyone looking could point to it long before January 6th. I kept pointing out on this board (the propaganda setup; the change in key office holders, the change in readiness orders) that it was being set up nearly a year before the Capitol was attacked.

The wheels grind slow here for reasons I’m sure you can imagine.

But yeah, don’t know why there wasn’t more urgency with the subpoenas in his unprecedented case.
