Though all these gents did a great job on the ice, I felt that their costumes deserved a caption or two. Pick your fave and give it the caption you think it deserves!

Caption for this last one: "No one at Hogwarts knew, but Professor Snape had a younger brother who, much to Snape's shame, had gone into figure skating...." :D

:cattail:

Second one: Apparently he didn't know that no coming-out announcement was required in his case.

(the actual caption should be in Russian translation, though)

Vera Wang was on the Today Show this morning. She's an artist and this was her canvas. I would much rather see her craft on the women, though. IMHO.

A comment from a past gold medalist............

David Pelletier and Jamie Sale, who finally got their gold medal for pairs after that French figure skating judge was caught selling points, were commenting on the pairs figure skating on a Canadian network. Several of the pairs competing were dressed like these guys shown here.

Finally, David had had enough, and said something like...

I mean, come on now. These are the Olympics. You don't come dressed for the Ice Capades.

Nothing - and I do mean nothing - beats the outfit that Rudy Galindo wore in 2002 when he skated to Sweet Transvestite from Transylvania, and Let's Do the Time Warp. (if you want to see the entire performance, it can be seen here. Don't miss the end when he hikes his spandex up between his buttcheeks. :D )

He's a superb technical skater, but enough on the odd side that he's one of the most interesting to watch.

Plus ca change, plus c'est meme chose.....

Speaking of "enough on the odd side" I saw American skater Johnny Weir skate both his short program and his free skate. He was superb. Technically he was flawless without the slightest trace of a bobble. Artistically he was amazing and his skating had a wonderful smoothness and grace. Yet he was never in medal contention. Both times when his marks were presented, the crowd booed, knowing Weir was being robbed.

In a sport that has had as much judging disgrace as figure skating you would think that the ISU (International Skating Union) would have it's act together by now. But then, these are the people who let the French judge Marie-Reine Le Gougne, who admitted she had been pressured into awarding the long program to the Russian pair in Salt Lake City, in exchange for a first-place vote for the French ice dancing team, back into judging after two years.
