I just knew I'd get the type of responses from the tool thread that I did...men and their tools
Now then...
I'm married to a man who seems to enjoy new electronics. He's drawn to the stores, the outlets, the shows, any place that one might find the latest and coolest electronic type devices. Shopping for them gives him a rush, a high, like a drug, or sex.
He paces slowly up and down the counters, assessing each device, his quest not satisfied until he is allowed to touch it. His senses keen as he touches each knob, evaluating the feel, the sound, it's speed, and accuracy. He questions the salesperson unmercifully, until he or she is exhausted.
If it's right, the item comes home. If not, the quest continues.
The box arrives home, and it's a production in itself to get the newly purchased item (toy) out of the box. He never just tears into it. He savors the slow insertion of the knife blade into the tape that holds the box together. Running the blade through the tape, the box opens, slowly, allowing the freshness of the item to push out at him. "Ahhhhh," he moans. (yes, I have actually heard him moan) He tells me how the smell of a new electronic item excites him. I have seen him shudder.
As the item is released from it's box, the expressions on his face are priceless, and can only be compared to watching a small child opening gifts at Christmas. Of course his moans, ooh’s and ahh’s will remain a personal comparison.
So, is he alone in this experience or do others understand it??
