Meeting again after years: inspiration wanted

I'm playing with an idea of two people running into each other again after a very long time, say twenty years. They were hot lovers for some time - at university or something - and now run into each other again, totally by accident, and in a city where they both don't live.
The opportunity for sinning is perfect, both of them being married adding a little to the secretiveness.

Now a few more details to spice this somewhat standard theme up...and I'll use them for my inspiration

I wrote one with this theme, but not quite what you have in mind. One possiblility would be for the guy to drop in and visit his friend, finding her in bed with hubby, and get invited to join. He finds out later that the ex-girlfriend and her hubby planned it.

To make the story credible, they would have to spend an afternoon together catching up on their lives. Their marriages would have to be in a rut at a minimum. The woman could be having some rocky times in her marriage.

One discussion would lead to another, and by the time evening falls she would bring him to her hotel room and recreate some past experiences. If you'd like, he could be somewhat reluctant.

You could have them deal with their conflicting feelings on the flight home.

Thanks for sharing it. I was however looking for something a little closer to the essence of the idea I brought forward. Adding in hubby moves it into different regions. Also nice, but not what I was looking for. Thanks, though

What brings them together after all of this time?

I'm picturing a wedding. If they went to the same university, maybe a friend who remained a friend to both of them is *finally* getting married and has invited both of them to the event. They see each other in the hotel, where the bride/groom's family has set up all the guests, not realizing that they are there for the event.

A nice twist could be that if neither mentions that they are married, the next day at the ceremony they spot each other sitting with their husband and wife and each feel a bit betrayed.

another idea

I like Chicklets but in reality we all want to go home again at least once. I see a couple who had unfinished business when they parted. They meet at a wedding or a reunion neither spouse is with them and they both k now they are happily married.
Still the spark is there, the memories remain and just a touch of but what if?

They have one drink and then annother as they talk about the old days and how happy they were. They know they would never divorce and yet yearning for one another and the unfettered times of old is just under the surface.

They go upstairs to her room after the bar closes and light kissing leads to petting leads to ?

QUestions to be answered will there be recriminations in the morning? Maybe it will just be a fond memory and a final ending to a beautiful love affair? Maybe wife or husband will find out? Maybe they will continue both the affair and the marriage?
