Meaningful vs Meaningless

All threads, including this one, can fit into each heading, it depends on whether you are interested in the topic or not. Deal with it!

As Laurel pointed out if you have a problem with someone take it to email and do not go naming names on the board.

If you do not like a poster skip them and move on. There are posters who bug the crap out of me, I do not flame them on the board, or email them, I just ignore them.

Though good avice, "ignoring" doesn't apply to every situation.

Silly threads designed to be pointless are fine, but 40 silly threads or more makes it nearly impossible for everyone else to navigate smoothly on the board, and it should be (kindly) pointed out.

Flirt-a-thons are fine, but when they begin taking over ALL the threads, as they do from time to time, no one is able to post on any other topic without their thread being hijacked, and it should be (kindly) pointed out.

Character assassinations are easy to overlook once or twice, but when they go on relentlessly for months at a time a (kindly) public reply is often necessary.

Disagrements need not necessarily be handled only via private e-mail (though this is often the best way to nip a situation in the bud.)

I don't "ignore" everything, because I don't think a kindly, or even somewhat heated, public discourse regarding points of disagreement is such a bad thing, and often the board needs a little venting.

But when it comes to sillieness, flirting, flaming or defaming, like the man said, everything in moderation.

My rant was not a flame per se, it was an opinion... and the last time I looked, this is a bulletin board where people posts such things as opinions, no? So, I resent the fact that you feel you have a right to tell me what to do, but that's your opinion, and so be it.

It is Ambro's right to post 15,000 times a day if he wants, doesn't mean I like it or HAVE to stay quiet about the fact I dislike it. That's all I'm saying.

And for the record. I do usually ignore what I dont wanna see or take part of. Todays incident was not something I could ignore.

Oh well, this is getting to be a pain..You leave the bb for 8 hours, and you come back to read threads you liked, and find them being pushed on page 2 and 3, because silly threads pushed them there. I spent at least 15 minutes to try to find them in between this mess. Yes I love silly threads they make me laugh, but for god sake, limit yourself a bit. I think we got the alphabet on the BB. *shakes head*

Normally I am a very peaceful person and I do not relish confrontations or promote ugly accusations... however, there is such a thing as biting your tongue so hard that it bleeds. And, I don't have anything personally against Ambro, just the superfulous posting that wastes space and negates others' chances at posting a thread that might be a little more interesting than:

"I made you..."

That is what people get for jumping to conclusions! The thread popped into my head after the troll jumped on April, I happen to like her.

For the record. I took todays shamless posting to IM's. Ambrosious wasn't answering, or he didn't recieve it. April however did. And she did get an earful from me about this.

Alright, I feel compelled to reply to this whole thing. Here is the story and my reasons for posting like I did.

I used to like and respect Ambro's opinions and posts. However, lately he has lost my respect with his inane, pointless, and very numerous threads. I think DCL is right, that this type of thing is taking over the board. I also think it's starting to make people post less. It certainly has had that effect on me.

This morning Ambro started a thread about something that happened at his job. Fine and good. It was an interesting thread, actually! Then instead of posting an update to that thread, he started another one. I had had enough. So I posted to the second thread, pointing out that, in my opinion, he should have put that in his original thread. Over and done with. Opinion expressed.

He replied to me in yet another thread. At that point I had had enough again. For those who haven't figured out what I posted, it was 'Ambrosious:Fine'. Maybe it wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done, but it's done.

I don't know what else to say about this situation. I'm sorry some of you are distressed about it, but I'm not sorry I did it.
